Glad it worked for him....

Now if he died, i suspect some of the folks cheering him now would have then called him a "dumba$$" for staying...

Great story and GOD bless him, but with a fire being fueled by 90mph winds? I'm outta there. He was fortunate

He said in the interview that he couldn't have afforded to rebuild. He probably felt like if his home that he lived in his whole life burned down then he wouldn't have much left to live for at his age. It was obviously worth the risk to him.

Did his neighbors leave and he just saved their house for them. That’s crazy. They owe that guy a lot.

Freaking how? How did HE use water from his own spigot when 1000's of other buildings got burned to ash?

He said anytime he spotted an ember or a small fire he put it out which stopped a bigger, destructive fire.

I'm making a guess. But it would make sense to me that the public water supply is connected to the water purification systems, where the hydrants most likely aren't.

It’s why we are hated. Too much individualism and competence means we can’t be controlled by authoritarians and constantly make government look bad

Sounds like, if the other home owners stayed, they could have saved their houses as well.

Yup. All it is are the winds blowing embers which ignite dry grass/trees or the wood on homes. Dampen your yard and house and the embers won’t ignite anything

He tells you how.

You squirt out a few embers over here and a few embers over there and never let it get big.

Not a fire truck in sight he said.

If this one guy was able to save 3 houses with a garden hose what could have been saved with a well organized fire department response. Yes he made the government look bad. He will be punished.

Putting out a small fire before it becomes a big fire. What a genius concept.

We've got the best culture don't we?

Seriously, I am not a racist. I do not believe the color of one's skin can ever determine superiority but I won't lie. I am a cultural bigot. It's absolutely true that some cultures are superior to others.

My question was partially rhetorical. But even so, you have to realize he had said his parents built this house, and he’s lived there all his life. I was half expecting, maybe, he had set up some ingenious irrigation system. But nope, just an old man with a garden hose.

Had a pretty solid nozzle on it too. And I’m not saying he didn’t get lucky, clearly not all homes could’ve been saved with this type of bravery. But just imagine, like he said, just a bit of prevention & effort, here and there, could’ve saved entire sections of the city.

But fat lesbians feeling accepted & good about themselves …just more important.

Yes. But too bad that green garden hose with a leaky nozzle wasn’t inspected to make sure it passed the stringent hose protocols of the California Fire Marshal!
