Are people still thinking that it matters what these "candidates" do or stand for to get blue votes?

A person just got 45% of the votes for a house seat that publicly stated she basically hates everything about the area she ran for. We celebrate that she lost by 10 points but in reality, she got 45% of the people to vote for her. That should be the headline

Still not as disgusting as Democrats electing someone that openly called for the deaths of children in front of their parents.

Democrats are evil. Period.

I’d give cash to see the look on the faces of the people who signed the constitution as they watch videos of some of our politicians today.

and I'll not soon forgive you for presenting the potential image of such ugliness into my mind.

Her solution to fix it? Increased parking tickets and ticket enforcement.

Just wondering, do you have a proposed solution?

I don't have one, I don't live there and haven't looked at the issue.

I don't know the solution either as I have not looked at the financials. But the first response to an administration overspending should not be to find ways to increase revenues. You need to look at the expenditures first, especially the recurring ones.

Get tough on crime. Make a statement that criminals will be prosecuted especially theft and violence.

Clean up blight and basic nonsense around the city such as broken street lights and failing infrastructure.

Clean up and patrol the French quarter to make it safe and fun for tourists.

Do something about the blighted buildings in the skyline and the crumbling buildings in the heart of downtown.

Start city backed initiatives partnered with businesses to offer trade school education and job training and placement. You need a generation or two of legitimate work opportunities and training to start reforming some of the areas of the city. You can roll this into first time offender reforms after sentencing.

Unfortunately all of this relies on politicians who give a shite and a citizenry who will work for change and the city is so full of corruption and greed and laziness any of these programs will just become another failed pocket filler for bureaucrats.

The honest answer is the people who can afford to live here and who pay taxes and who care need to step up and be the change they wish to see. We have turned a blind eye to so much and when we finally decide we want it changed all we do is shout into the void about the problems and hope someone else does something about it.

The best investment would be a grassroots movement by people with means who care to get involved with church programs and local charities and try to make a legitimate difference in the lives of the lost and hopeless youth in this city. Their lives are truly tragic and we do nothing to help them because it’s not our problem and we seem to have at every level of society lost the capacity for empathy and action and replaced it with apathy and loud words.

Same thing that the supermajority Republican House and Senate says here in Louisiana.

But is that what happened?

Take a look at the appropriations and the supplemental appropriations bills, and you'll see that the answer is no.

Breesus, those sound like good ideas.

But they all cost money.

How do you do them when there is a deficit? Raise taxes? Perhaps increase parking tickets and ticket enforcement, as apparently the mayor-elect wants to do?
