McCarthy successfully stopped Schumer's bill

The dems want a shutdown they could blame on republicans. They knew there was no way the House would pass Schumer's bill that would have been passed in the Senate at the last minute.
Now McCarthy has 45 days to negotiate the 12 spending bills the House will pass this week and send to the Senate and ultimately settled in conference committee.
It will be on these bills the republicans can take some small victories. There will be no big victories since Trump lost the Senate and White House. Wouldn't it have been great if Fetterman and Warnock had faced decent republican opposition? Both would have been trounced.

Wouldn’t have been great if you didn’t vote for Biden and we wouldn’t be in this mess?

Why didn’t they? You act like republicans didn’t lose to shitty democrats before trump.

I see you been listening to Fox talking points....What makes you think they'll pass anything in the next 45 day? It will be the the same song and dance in 45 days

Warnock was going to be appointed regardless of who the Republicans ran. Georgia elections are rigged.
Herschel was and is a great candidate. He destroyed Warnock in the debate. It was great.

As he should. The ballot harvesting op he created with Steele won the house

McCarthy had 8 months to get the spending bills done and send them to the Senate. Stop trying to spin for that loser. He's known as Pelosi Light for a reason.

You hear this morning McCarthy saying no Ukraine funding without border action.
These are the kind of things this time buys him. He will get some small things.

I can’t imagine anyone wanting that position this day in age. The collective political IQ just isn’t what it needs to be in order for anyone herding all those crazy cats a fair and fully informed shake. Actually I believe although clearly he knew of this premise prior to announcing his run, Desantis probably wad overwhelmed at just how severe it is after a very short while. I don’t blame him one bit of his views and aspirations on the thing soured so badly that he basically doesn’t care to be in it anymore. Trump’s the only one who can shrug it off enough to keep hammering away at it.
Just general observations there, nothing directed at you specifically.

Fixed.
Without Gaetz, Ukraine would continue to sponge off the backs of US tax payers while most other countries (especially those in the EU) kick in only a pittance.

While it's not enough of a spending cut, at least it's something. Ukraine spending is something many on both sides of the aisle in the Senate dearly want to continue. Thanks to Gaetz' pressure, the Senate (Democrat-controlled) now either has to forego funding for their cause du jour or be the ones responsible for a shutedown.
Were McCarthy to have been free to do as he wished, we wouldn't have faced a shutdown but we would still be engaged in at least that ridiculous spending.
Hell, a few more of these near-shutdowns and we may get back to under $1T in deficit spending for FY2024. That such a scenario would be considered a win should underscore how ridiculous it was to want to avoid a shutdown to begin with.
