Damn, I used to be a big MM fan.

Am I wrong but wasn’t her biggest hit the theme song for Hannity’s radio show a long time ago ?

The stupid thing on Martina’s part is “Independence Day” was probably going to be played a million times this summer. She cost herself money by bending the knee to a bunch Instagram commentators.
Dolly Parton sang a song called "I Will Always Love You". Whitney Houston sang it and people forgot about Dolly.
Maybe a bigger voice sings "Independence Day" during the 250th year celebration of America's Independence and we all just simply forget about Martina.

Modern country music is nothing but glorified pop. The market for it is insanely oversaturated as well.

...with a banjo. Don't forget the banjo.

its not even a patriotic song, its about domestic abuse. I, for one, will not be playing it this 4th of July. Looks like its going to be Lee Greenwood on repeat this year

I haven’t followed this except to read the headline. If she signed up for a national celebration, and then discovered it was going to be a Trump rally, then I understand her pulling out. But if she pulled out of a celebration just because Trump was going to be there, then she is being partisan.

I haven’t heard her name in about 20 years. This post unlocked some memories for me

Because it was supposed to be a nonpartisan event lol.

I always thought Brett Michael's was more down the middle since he does care about our troops.

She's pushing 60. A 60 year-old woman should've been thrilled to have been asked to perform at the 250th celebration.
What the hell else does she have planned? Is she going on tour with Madonna?

Where is the hate for Bret Michael's? Wasn't he a big Trump supporter?

I think since country fans are probably more patriotic in general and she is peeing on all of them who assumed she was one of them.
Poison fans dont assume Poison is patriotic with American values. I witnessed a line of 200 girls and women lined up at turtles records and tapes in 1986. They all went through the line and tongue kissed each member of Poison. So disgusting. I dont think that fanbase feels betrayed by Brett.

People expect country artists to be conservatives but are surprised if rockers come out as conservative. IRL, there's plenty of surprises both ways.

Jason Aldean is as American patriot as they come. He would perform at a moments notice.

The older country stars were decidedly conservative and pro-America. Things have changed.
