Helen was the most beautiful woman.
Which means the opposite of masculine.
Black women including this actress have significantly more masculine looking features.
Achilles is the most masculine of men, a leader.
So why cast people who are the opposite in those roles.
It's subconsciously admitting that black women are not archetypes of feminine beauty.
And that no one born a woman could ever be a man, or lead men.
And then trying to make up for those facts with fantasy to make the pitiful losers of genetics feel better.

I think Nolan is doing this to try and 'cleverly' make his actual woke castings (don't forget Zendaya as Athena) seem less cringe.

It isn't just the DEI casting that is the problem. There are so many red flags just from the trailers and his comments that it seems like Nolan is fully experimenting with this movie.
Travis Scott is apparently going to rap in the movie because rap is analogous to poetry.
Agamemnon's futuristic sci-fi armor.
Using Viking ships instead of Greek ships.
Nolan will not allow the score to use orchestral instruments because those instruments did not exist, even though he ignores that ideal in every other aspect of the movie.
Odd modern-day dialogue choices and American accents.
It will still make a lot of money because Nolan is directing, and because it is The Odyssey, but it seems like he is making this movie just to troll the audience.
