You guys repeat shite like this to yourselves over and over until you believe it’s true.
Plenty of millennials live in cities because that’s where white collar jobs are. Plenty of them are buying starter homes in the suburbs and struggling to keep up while paying for a mortgage and day care.
The American way of life hasn’t changed, it’s just the wrong voices that are being heard.

Was going to start another thread with the following but didn't want to appear beating up on the mills. The gist of the article - millennials lie more on job resumes.
LINK
quote:
To determine how often most people lie on resumes and about what, personal finance website GoBankingRates.com surveyed more than 1,000 individuals of various age groups and found that for the most part people actually tell the truth.
A mere 5 percent of respondents admitted to lying with millennials being twice as likely to fib at 11 percent. Millenials are usually defined as the generation born between 1981 and 1996 who started entering the workforce after the year 2000. Older baby boomers aged 65 and older were the most honest on their resumes, with only 2 percent admitting to putting down false information.
However, Generation Z, the cohort born between 1996 and 2010, was the “most tempted to lie” with 14 percent of them claiming they considered it when applying for a new job.
Of those who did lie, one in three said it was about their work experience and dates of employment.

Now tell us how many Boomers financially rely on SS from the millennials.

You mean the government program all of us boomers paid into all of our lives? I'd say about all of us do except for the ones who died before they ever had a chance to get back what they paid in. Don't try to act like millennials are the only ones who have ever paid into SS. Damn man.

My father died at 48 of heart attack...worked himself to death and never got a penny.

That this fact is so conveniently ignored is baffling.
The Fed Govt stole the money that boomers have paid, kicking the can down the road.

Do you remember our generation bitching about paying in to SS like mills do? I can honestly say I probably never heard anyone bitching about it save about 7-8 times.

There's a difference between a 30 year old that relies on their parents because they work a part-time retail job and show no signs of improving, in comparison to a 30 year old that relies on their parents because they're finishing up medical/dental/law/graduate school and have little to no income.
I think the former is inexcusable, but I think most of us would sympathize with the latter.

Without a doubt. I'm talking about some kid (using that loosely) who has a job, income, but keeps living with mommy so he can afford toys and work 10 hours a week. Neighbor's 30 year old dropped out of college, tried to become a firefighter (failed) and now mows lawns. Not a landscaping business, that would be too hard, he just rides around on a $5k zero-turn lawnmower Kid had an awesome 4th of July fireworks show though.

Their lifestyle?
I agree with the sentiment you are implying. But here's food for thought for another perspective:
In divorce court, providing your former spouse a " lifestyle they are accustomed to" happens frequently. You are mandated to do so (regardless of the reason for the divorce).

I have an acquaintance who makes about 130k, and has for a couple years now, and still lives with his parents. He's in a high COL area but it blows my mind.

But how are his parents health-wise? I lived with mine after college since they were not in good health (lost them both before I turned 30).

I know so many women from ages 21-30 whose parents still pay phone bills, car payments, car insurance. Not to mention mooching off of other peoples Netflix and youtube TV accounts.

I worked full time and it took me seven years to get my degree . Sometimes I only had enough cash to pay for two classes in a semester. It wasn't easy but I graduated with ZERO debt.
I did the same. It sucked some times not having much play money but being poor in college has its own charm. I appreciate everything I earn.
My wife, who is 8 years younger (no pics), did the student loan thing, got two bachelors and a masters degree and racked about 100k in debt.
Luckily her degree is in a very well paying field so we paid everything off in 10 years.

Craft beers and specialty coffees are expensive dude. That is why I stick to straight whiskey and black coffee.
