What were Americans doing in China

I’ve seen the videos. Horrific. Missing probably = dead I’m afraid.

Those videos are absolutely horrific. They had no chance at all.

Voting for democrats for the midterms.
ETA I apologize for making a joke about such a tragedy. I’ll leave my original post for clarity.

I'm still looking around, but it seems like an earthquake triggered a glacier to collapse/landslide into the river.

Yes. They're saying an avalanche caused a dam failure.

They were flying away at the same time that the people were running. The birds were just faster.

Is that a mudslide from too much rain?
Posted on 8/26/26 at 4:23 pm to el Gaucho
You serious Clark?
Posted on 8/26/26 at 4:28 pm to DeBoar
Terrible. That was beyond a mere flood. Complete dam burst.
They'll probably find thousands dead when done.

The glacier ice break created an ice dam and this is the result when it blew.

That camera is a stud, though.

Rain triggered an avalanche/landslide, a huge debris flow blocked the river (causing a natural dam) that was already high from the rains, the "dam" broke and sent the massive debris flow down the river into the valley.
The earthquake that was picked up was caused by the avalanche/landslide. Per the USGS the time that it happened was after the landslide started, so seismographs picked up shaking from the massive movement of land down the mountain.
