I don’t think snap should even allow water purchases. You get water out of the tap - also likely paid for by the government.

You need to get some new material.

If you get food stamps, it should be to cover exactly what you need to survive.
Coke products are not one of those things.

People seem to be for common sense until someone takes their sugar water away from them.
They can get a job and buy it with their own money.
These same people are fat and want you to then pay for their medical care too.

You're an idiot if you drink tap water. Literally. Poor people should have access to non tap water.

Screw that. End food stamps for garbage.

You can still buy an ice cold Coca Cola with your own money but not the government’s food assistance. I see no issue here. There are all sorts of things you can’t buy with EBT already. Cry me a river that we try to force people to make healthier choices when on government assistance.

You just know Big Soda has been preparing for years to try and fend off the inevitable ban on shite food bought with taxpayer money. They probably have a whole team dedicated to focus grouping on how to convince the public that spending tax payer money on junk food should be a human right.

Unilever, PepsiCo, Coca-Cola, etc. are the ones who lobbied to have this junk be allowed on food assistance. The pernicious problem is the recipient is probably making the optimal calorie/dollar choice by selecting the calorie-dense junk. This will sound crazy but we should cut out all the junk, force people to make good eating decisions, but give them a bit more money because they will need more to get sufficient calories from home-prepared meals that aren’t freezer aisle shite or fatty snacks.

Are calories one of those products?
Let's see how far your logic will be supported. If you get in an auto accident and the police say it's your fault, should the hospital let you die? After all, you now owe a debt to society, so why should society pay for any medical treatment for you? Why should those resources be used on your behalf? You just plowed into a tree, marked up the road, toppled a street light. Pay those bills or we size you up for a body bag, which we're going to bill your kids for, by the way.
Should the police only respond if you're being killed and need to survive? I'm asking because some of my tax dollars go to that police force. If your survival isn't at stake, I don't see why my tax dollars need to benefit you at all. Need to file a police report after your car was stolen? Tough. Shouldn't have bought that car. My tax dollars aren't going to subsidize your poor car security habits, loser.
The fire department should only respond if they know you're trapped in a burning building, right? I damn sure don't want my tax dollars paying for the fuel on the fire engine because your dumb arse fell asleep with the fire place still going. Am I right?
If you show up to the ER with a heart attack and they can't verify your bank statements or health insurance status, they shouldn't touch you until you flatline, right? Why on earth should you get any of those drugs and resources when I might walk in there with my bank statements and insurance card handy? You better not delay my medical care you meth addict. How dare you think you're going to get some medical care without verification that you've fully paid and can pay some more. You got some nerve you worthless leech.
How about this, if the IRS says you owe anything on your taxes then that means I'm subsidizing the govt on your behalf. Nothing federal for you or your kids until that is paid. You can't drive on interstate highways. Can't go on federal property. Can't engage in anything that is subsidized with federal money. If the feds kicked in some dollars for the local parks, your kids can't play until those taxes are paid. Does that seem like a good position to you?
How about we just have digital ID and every time you go somewhere like a scenic outlook or a national park or state park, we scan your digital ID and make sure you don't have parking tickets and such - can't have deadbeats like you out there in nature when you ought to be in jail or getting another job to pay those tickets and that IRS bill, am I right?
You seem like a real deadbeat. I bet you owe all sorts of money. We should just just weld your front door shut until your lazy arse pays everything.
Tell you what, we'll extend this to your home and auto loan too because I'm tired of my tax dollars going to things like FEMA for morons like you to live where a bunch of tornadoes and hurricanes come through. Deadbeat loser. I'm not kicking in to have your loans forgiven or to give you temporary shelter if you aren't fully prepared to buy a new house or get into a hotel the minute that funnel cloud carries your house away. I'm sick of you entitled little bastards taking all my tax dollars and not having any backup plan, no money, no nothing.
And you can forget FDIC. You put money in the wrong bank, that's your problem. My tax dollars should never be used to make up for your bad decisions. SBF stole your money, well that's your fault. Deal with it, loser.
Bring back the debtors prisons. That'll fix you people.

No one is going to starve on SNAP if you take away their soda and snacks.
