This is what happens when you have liberals in charge.
$3000 to live at home...but the LSU shaped lazy river is nice

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB/Gray News) – Louisiana State University is offering some incoming freshman $3,000 to live at home.
Incoming freshman with home addresses within 30 minutes of LSU’s campus are eligible for the incentive.
LSU Residential Life Executive Director Peter Trentacoste said there are more students interested in living on campus than anticipated.
He said the $3,000 commuter incentive is part of LSU’s “occupancy management.”
LSU Sophomore Kayla Vine said while this incentive is beneficial to local students, she thinks LSU should add more housing options rather than convincing students to commute.
“I feel that LSU gets a lot of money to build more dorms for freshmen, but I don’t know what they do with the money. Eighty million dollars went to the LSU pool, so they spend it on all the amenities,” Vine said.
Vine is referring to the $85 million recreation center, which includes a lazy river in the shape of the school’s initials, according to a Wall Street Journal report.

If it is a supply demand issue why not let that dynamic play out?

Let’s “give” them 3,000 and jack tuition up 5,000, hahahaha

Is that with or without Baton Rouge traffic?

Can LSU ever be a competently run organization? Every year there is some kind of housing fiasco.
"...There are more students interested in living on campus than anticipated." Big fricking surprise.

LSU students voted for the tuition raise/fees to pay for that. It has absolutely nothing to do with housing money.

The students voted for this.

Is this because they are letting more mediocre students in or they are just having an uptick in attendance? The last few years la tech has not had enough on campus housing for freshman either, but I don’t think it’s from lowering the standards as much as an increase in qualified students choosing tech.

What did they think would happen when they started requiring students to live on campus?

It is all a scam. Imagine what $85 million could have done compared do a ref upgrade. So stupid.
Can they even house as many students as in the past? Building luxury apartments all around campus and then on campus has probably created a housing crisis.
Kids should be staying a dump to not waste money and get out of school with a worthwhile degree.

This is a nationwide phenomenon brought on by liberal management in our schools. It's not just confined to LSU.

I agree.
But LSU also has this problem every damned year and every year they act like it's some unprecedented issue that came up unexpectedly.

How do i convert this to miles in typical BR traffic conditions? 5 mile radius?
