Another Fun Fact. Vermont legalized weed through legislative action, not a voter ballot initiative.

Repubs control 2/3rds of both houses of our Legislature. It is 100% on the Louisiana Republican Party whether we get to vote on recreational use or not. Let's see if the rural Repubs go along with it.

Kids shouldn’t be smoking weed anyway. Read up on that.

This is true and people don't take it seriously enough. I understand that most/a lot of kids smoke weed when they're teenagers, but it's really not good for the developing brain. Weed is also much, much stronger than it was even 10 years ago, much less 20+ years ago when kids were smoking brown brick weed with a quarter of the potency of today's high grade.

I wouldn't want my kid drinking and making dumb decisions but I damn sure wouldn't want my kid getting high either.

No way recreational pot use should be a criminal offense. Would also be a good way to win over some young voters. Make the damn call!

Remove marijuana from our criminal code, legalize it, and regulate it for responsible consumption by the public after education on the issue.

And tax the living shite out of it, don't forget that part.

I never get the "cigarettes bad"/"marijuana good" argument. Is inhaled marijuana smoke more healthful than cigarette smoke?

I mean, a guy gets lung cancer and the physician asks are you a smoker. "Wow, no man, no way!"

Edibles are definitely healthier and vaping is probably healthier. Also when I smoke I typically use a water pipe and that filters more than a cig. Also you only take 3-4 hits per session whereas cigs are what - 50 to 300 hits per day for most smokers?

Seems a valid point. I wonder if all who partake will exercise prudence of that caliber? Nevertheless, good point.

Tobacco is a plant. Cigarettes are a very highly refined and manufactured product. You'd be better off buying high quality tobacco and smoking a pipe

Again, synthesized products are not the same thing as the plant from which they originate. And you have to take into account the danger and death probability of those products.

Maybe you got bad connections, but the quality of weed out there is through the roof.

making it legal makes it harder to control with kids.

That's the only reason why I am on the fence about it being legal. I smoke occasionally and it's not hard to find if you want it. I would say decriminalize it and anyone caught providing it to a minor gets an automatic 10 yrs in prison. Weed is for adults. Kids do not need to be partaking of it.
