There’s literally no polling data at all that supports your prediction.

He’s more likely to face a runoff.

Yeah, I know it's not exactly a piercing dissection of Louisiana problems with a detailed prescription for filling them. And as a self-styled student of LA government, I'd prefer if it was, I promise you.

That said, I am not judging it by how effective an ad it is on me. People like me are a very small slice of the LA electorate. I think it will be effective in getting his name out there and getting potential voters to like him.

Give it another week or two and I really think his poll numbers will start to move significantly. Enough to beat out Abraham? I don't think so, but it wouldn't be as big a surprise now as it would have been 2 months ago.

I’ll say this, Big Jim and I spent many threads during the Jindal years disagreeing about Jindal’s budget approaches and other issues...but one thing is for sure...he knows Baton Rouge and State politics. Whatever he does in life has him with a pretty good pulse on trends and perceptions.

It's sad this is the best the Republicans can put out in Louisiana,

If Steve Scalise was a mid-ranking Republican in Congress, he would be your next governor. He doesn't want to give up the high leadership spot he has, and I don't blame him. I also think him being in that spot is great for the state, and I don't want to lose that.

I also believe Graves would be a great governor, but I'm concerned that his connections to Jindal are still too fresh. He's probably not yet ready for the mansion.

then again the job of Governor isnt a good job to take right now

For the right person, it could be a chance to create a lasting legacy. But it will require a whole lot of hard work.

To make a football analogy, Rispone is a 6'4" 220 lb guy who runs a 4.38 40, wants to play WR, and has never played a down of football in his life. And now he wants to play in the NFL.

He's going to turn a few heads and draw interest, but that's not going to be enough by itself.

Rispone's stats and background checks some boxes - He's MAGA, he's a successful businessman in a state that desperately needs more successful businesses, he's a bit of an outsider (but still knows enough people to get stuff done).

And he's got enough money where he doesn't need to heavily depend on fundraising.

The commericals he is running now are the ones he should have been running 3-4 months ago - basic introduction material. He also seems like he's been doing a lot of small-bit campaign stuff - speaking at small civic meetings, fleshing out ideas, etc.

It's time for him to start talking about how he is going to make Louisiana better. IF he has good ideas and can package them in an easy to understand way, he would have a great shot at winning.

But he hasn't done that yet.

Another football analogy, he's the QB of a team on their own 10 yard line, down by 5, 90 seconds left in the game... but he's got an offense capable of getting it done. Which means he has a shot.

Rispone has people talking here, the question is are they talking about him in Lake Charles, Lafayette, Covington and across the state.

That would be a good first step.

I have yet to see Rispone mention a single policy point or plan or anything. No one even knows what he stands for.
He stands with Trump, supports the wall, and wants to ban sanctuary cities. That's all I got from his radio ads

And he’s letting people vote on tax reform.

He also states that he’s an outdoorsman, businessman and a political outsider.

And that’s it in a nutshell.

New ad out for Abraham.

It's obvious they spent 10's of dollars on this spot.

I like Rispone.

But the "boom there it is" at the end of the new commercial is cringe worthy. It just doesn't have the same meaning coming from an old white guy.

Yep.

And he's one of the most personable and likable posters on this board, he doesn't go out of his way to belittle and insult people who are conversing in good faith and and he's always good for a conversation.

There's also DoubleB as well and he knows his stuff too and is almost a carbon copy of BigJim as well.

To them both.

We elected Higgins over here in Lafayette, I feel confident Rispone’s ads will play very well here even if I think they are terrible.
