Landry has never seemed to have his own original agenda for LA. It seems like he just wants to mirror anything Trump does, or do things that’ll put his name in the headlines

Oh you don’t like appointed judges making the decisions, we could have an ejected judge but the people voted that down. Sorry!

Is there really a difference? Appointed judges are appointed by the Supreme Court. Elected judges...well we know thats a crapshoot.

Bobby Jindel was even worse with this crap during his second term. He didn't give a shite about what was good for the state. He just wanted to make headlines so he could be included in VP discussions.

The part of it which would have allowed for the creation of more specialized courts. We already have more judges than other states with our population. The creation of more specialized courts mean more judges are needed, meaning the growth of government. There are currently 69 specialized courts, in 2023 they heard ~5,000 cases total. That's approximately 1 case per court per week but somehow we need more of that?

Yeah we sure do need em. What you're missing is most district courts in Louisiana don't have specialty courts, so the regular judges have to hear all the family law B.S. etc., which keeps the dockets all tied up and keeps regular cases from getting moved efficiently. It also helps to have Judges that specialize in and only hear Family law cases, for example, like here in Baton Rouge. Works well, and many of the larger parishes really need them.

Bingo. So far, all he’s given us is the Ten Commandments in school (lawsuit in-progress) and Omar Bradley the Tiger at a LSU game (massive flop).

At the same time, he shot down tort reform when Republicans dominate the state and tried to cram a bunch of sneaky stuff past us in Amendment 2 while selling it as a “tax cut” and helping seniors. Please.

Oh but that inauguration was one for the ages.

“We don’t like all these changes crammed together; it’s too much to understand! Break them up!”

“We don’t like all these amendments in the ballot. It’s too many to understand!”

I'm a conservative Trump supporter

I voted NO on 2 because it's a convoluted mess to present to voters.
Keep it simple stupid.
The mumbo jumbo = deception
If you want lower taxes then make it clear
Landry didn't get it his way because whoever wrote that thing is incompetent themselves

The language in these proposed amendments and other measures for voters to decide is ALWAYS far too complicated for the average voter. Then, you get “explanation” posts/emails from special interest groups putting their own twists on things in their efforts to simplify. It almost makes it a bait and switch thing that the average voter will always vote NO on because they’re afraid of being hoodwinked.

I sympathize, I do.

But the problem is the constitution IS a convoluted mess. So you have to unwind something complex.

And worse, a lot of these financial parts interact. So breaking them up, becomes complicated if not impossible.

That said, I hope they pick some of the most important parts (inventory tax would be my #1 pick) and put them on the ballot.

I am just not sure 16 amendments about complicated topics will be much more likely to pass than one complicated amendment.

Btw no one thinks Latoya is doing a good job. You’d know that if you actually lived in or ever went to New Orleans.

BS. Did she get recalled? Apparently enough people thought she was doing a good job or she would be out the door. Residents had their chance.

So you are wrong.

LOL - why would Jeff get behind tort reform when he prides himself on preventing tort reform?

If he wants to be a 2 term governor he will have to get behind it. Frivolous lawsuits are the biggest problem facing our State currently. They are driving up insurance costs and driving businesses out.

Not even close. Jindal was a reformer, Landry isn’t. I wish we could have a third Jindal term.
