TIL cubbies cares more about coffee prices than pedos running the government bc it doesn’t “impact her life”. Too bad those kids can’t same the same. Guess you are one lucky lib. And very emotional one at that. And selfish which is expected

You'll never get a straight answer on what the tariffs are meant to do because tying themselves down to an answer would mean they can't change the answer as it suits them. They're both permanent and temporary, and will simultaneously make it cheaper to grow/build an industry here while also lowering barriers to buy those same things overseas. They're magic tariffs that do what you want depending on what's convenient at the time
I mean, I know that. It does bear reminding that tariffs/duties/fees to protect domestic industry is standard practice in international trade agreements. We tend to manufacture complex things which require raw materials, some of which we don't have immediate access to. I'd prefer it if the administration was thoughtful about where they are applying tariffs rather than doing it all at once, because the latter portion is nonsensical.

Yep. Increasing drilling here did reduce energy costs, which helped consumers. Thanks.

What are you talking about?

Adding "if you care about coffee prices you're a pedophile" to the big roulette wheel of tariff responses, I guess

There are other countries where those industries can source the beans, right?
Most coffee beans are grown in Brazil and Vietnam.

Way to avoid the entire post.
But to answer your question, much of the reason inflation is beating expectations is higher than expected wage growth fueled by industrial expansion and manufacturing growth. So which of Trump’s policies impacted that?

I’m more concerned with impacts on the industry as a whole than my individual/family coffee expenses.
Several coffee roasters and distributors (e.g., Community Coffee, PJ’s Coffee) are headquartered in Louisiana and supply both local and national markets.
Louisiana has coffee importers, distributors, and processing facilities. If demand dips because of higher prices, some jobs could be at risk in our fragile economy.

Job creation is also smashing expectations. The economy is far from fragile.
You just came here to take a lazy shot at the administration.

Let’s not get carried away.
Job creation is at a very average pace.

Coffee may not be the best example for this then, because the demand is pretty inelastic. People are going to buy coffee whether it's 10.99 a bag or 14.99 a bag. The issue is that this is an unnecessary price increase because of misapplied tariffs, and it keeps that cost of living ticking upwards. It won't put importers and distributors out of business, but it might just close your local coffee shop that's already hanging on by a thread. The Starbucks and even the PJs of the world can handle that, the mom and pop cafes can't.

It must be harder and harder for you to bash Trump policy with how well everything is turning out.
I can't imagine being so anti a single person that you would rather the country crumble so you can say OMB. Unfortunately, the country is starting to thrive off the policy changes, and obviously that infuriates you nut jobs.

Just don’t buy imported coffee.

Which has a 20% tariff on all imports from Vietnam, which is higher than the number quoted in the OP.

Good point.

Eight O Clock coffee baw. Been drinking it for years. Back in the day, you could grind the beans at the cash register. A & P supermarket i think. Sav A Center used to do the same thing.

Doesn't really mean anything by itself.

Ugh. Wish I would have thought of that.
