I was assured multiple times that American consumers would never pay increased prices due to Trump’s tariffs.
I was assured we'd be in a depression by now, and that Eggs were going to cost me $20/carton. What's your point?

Energy and Immigration for starters.

All this is just another excuse for corporations to fuk the consumer.
Ayn Rand warned of “guilt displacement”. She was dead on.

This reminds me of the Covid counter that was on every TV during the Trump admin, and then it just stopped when Biden got in office.
Prices went up exponentially due to Bidens policies, yet here we are demanding justice for a 4 cent increase on certain coffees.
I totally believe people care about this.

I remember when Bernie Sanders among others was pushing for tariffs.

$0.05 more a cup and we arrest that bastard Obama?
Several years ago field corn had risen in price to about $8 per bushel. There was an article in my local paper with the Movie theatre owners complaining about the high cost of popcorn and that they were forced to raise the price of a large popcorn by $.50 per bucket. Popcorn was selling for around $12 per bushel. The total amount of corn in that large bucket was less than $.15.

To sum up the possible responses:
-who cares about coffee
-Biden made things expensive too
-4% doesn't matter
-paying more is worth it
-this is the corporations' fault
-i'll just drink other brands (unsure where this guy thinks other brands get their coffee beans from)
Did that cover everything?

Coffee is one of the only industries left in New Orleans and Louisiana.

Energy - Yes. I shouldn't have to tell you this, but it is a significant portion of COGS to a) engergize/power manufacturing and b) ship goods and services to the vendor. Lowering of energy prices will immediately impact rate of inflation. How? Because things cost money. The US Gov't printing money is 1 driver for inflation. Having to print less of it because things cost less will reduce inflation. More sales $ = more tax $ = more revenue = lower inflation
Immigration - Again, see "things cost money".
DOGE - pretty self explanatory
Tariffs - a) tariff revenue increases GDP b) countries that have a trade agreement with us will allow for more sales of American made goods. c) energy being cheaper will reduce product costs allowing us to undercut foreign markets.
TRUMP effect - it doesn't' matter how much you hate him, or how orange he is, the man is a businessman and private business want to do business with Trump. Now that Trump is POTUS, foreign countries want to do business with America. Private business, like in his first 4 years, is swelling because of the regulation and red tape being cut under Trump.
There is more, i'm just going off the cuff here and relaying some common sense stuff.

No. Tell us what about the Harris presidency would have been preferable to Trump. Obviously, assuming, you're not a pedophile or groomer.

Shouldn't the point of tariffs be to protect/grow domestic industry? We can't do that with coffee (at least I don't think the US has the ability to make coffee to the degrees we import), which makes the tariff even more pointless.

Oh yeah, how could I forget "if you disagree with Trump on XYZ you're a Harris voter." A classic

You'll never get a straight answer on what the tariffs are meant to do because tying themselves down to an answer would mean they can't change the answer as it suits them. They're both permanent and temporary, and will simultaneously make it cheaper to grow/build an industry here while also lowering barriers to buy those same things overseas. They're magic tariffs that do what you want depending on what's convenient at the time
