We just celebrated the front end of a peace deal two days ago. This whole thing is a train wreck.
Im so sick of hearing this.
fricking Iraq and Afghanistan was a train wreck.
Over 7000 KIA during GWOT.
How many dead so far? It was a god damn worthy risk/reward decision and neither you nor I have ANY of the intel. We have what they allow us to see and MSM speculation. That’s it.
If there are 800 dead Marines two years from now then you will have a point, but there aren’t.

Just like everything else, it's about OMB more than anything else.
Alternatively, we have people here that have been lauding the deal now perfectly happy to tear it up if Trump decides to do so. The OMB people are cut from the same cloth.

You’re nuts. Dresden was indiscriminate carpet bombing with dumb bombs wiping out every standing building. What’s needed in Iran would be nothing like that.

I would like Trump to be a little more aggressive. Iran is still pulling the same stunts and it's beyond old.
Idgaf what they do in their own country. I’m sick of playing these sand war games. We need to just keep nukes away from them and take the straight.

People talking about the necessity of using nukes against countries like Iran are not qualified to lecture others about "higher order reasoning."
People thinking we just need to shock n awe them some more or do one more decapitation strike and they’re going to surrender are whacked in the head. If we want to beat them without a conscription level invasion force, then we are basically left with destroying population centers. It may or may not require nukes but it is edging on that being the weapon to make the desired effect.

Every time the US announces a cease fire or deal Israel immediately strikes Lebanon and the deal falls apart.
And the wheels on the bus go round and round.

Lindsey Graham: "I spent 4.5 hours with President Trump on Friday. Here's what I think will happen next. If this deal fails, President Trump is gonna take the Strait of Hormuz over by force. We'll charge a fee for all those who go through to pay for the operation ... if Iran contests control of the Strait of Hormuz by the United States we'll obliterate them."
This is what many of wanted to see back in March.

A lot of people on this board want to go Dresden on Iran. I am glad to see you're not in that camp. The transition from "let's pick off the leadership and win hearts and minds" to "level the entire country" for many has been interesting.
I don’t think we should do that but it is what is required to win and dictate terms of the post war reality. I think we should have never started this because we have created a new status quo that is worse for the US long term because Iran can just choke out petrodollar traded oil out of the region whenever they want. This is the reported new US military analysis of Iran’s capacity. So I’m not just saying it to say it.
I just don’t think there is a truly pro-western/US group of any meaningful number in Iran. They may hate the current rule but they mostly all hate the West and Israel. We are never going to have a favorable government there. The people just don’t like us and China and Russia have too much vested interest in them not becoming US aligned.

Israel needs to put boots on the ground and cut off the guard. It’s in their best interest to finish Iran off. Not ours.

We should have just had bridge and power grid day.

Israel has a right to defend itself.
Israel does not have a right to annex southern Lebanon and ethnically cleanse the area.
It’s neither advantageous for the US or moral for the US to continue to allow Israeli territorial expansions into Southern Lebanon at this time.
At a minimum Israel should be required to hold on attacks until global oil markets and reserves are restocked and a better plan for reengaging militarily with Iran tips the leverage back in our favor rather than theirs.

Israel cant militarily finish the war in Gaza against armed militants and you think they can roll solo into Tehran and take out the IRGC?
I think people fail to appreciate that Iran is a nation of 100M people in a nation with the terrain of Afghanistan who’ve prepared since the Shah fell for a US invasion.
Could we do it? For 50-100k casualties without ever eradicating fully the insurgency that would follow? Yes.
Could Israel? F no.
The only two nations who could invade and conquer Iran are the US and China and I pray we’re never stupid enough to try it because the juice isn’t worth the squeeze for us.

Trimp has been a pussy for over a month. Let me guess, he spoke again about how they are totally destroyed, but then spoke of how they control the strait

I can't believe we're about to get out of a bad deal because Iran is too low IQ and inbred to realize what they had. It's almost like this was the inevitable path.
