The Little Rock School District is taking beginning steps to tap the power of the sun.
The School Board for the 22,000-student school system last week directed Superintendent Jermall Wright and his staff to solicit proposals from energy service companies to audit or evaluate the district's energy consumption and propose how to meet at least some of those energy demands with solar power.
quote:
The board authorized the request for proposals at the urging of Central High School's Young Leftist Club and others who first appealed to the board last November to consider alternative, sustainable energy sources.

Central student Tamara Tyler told the board that the world's climate crisis is the most important issue of her generation. "Why are we waiting?" she asked about board action.
Another Central student Heather Jennings called for a move to solar panels. "Switching to solar has no downsides," she said.
I'm all for solar but this is just ignorance.

Yea clown because you're not paying for it nor the maintenance.

Until the storage technology catches up to solar and wind power the conversion to green technology is going to be unreliable and full of rolling brownouts.

Letting the prisoners run the prison is all good, no downside

It is cold and cloudy often in ARKY!
Good Luck.
Good Luck.

Kids doing as they’ve been indoctrinated to do.

Are they building this so they understand it or just wanting to buy shite? Nope to learn about.

But a solar energy contract reached with an energy service company

Lol, did anyone ask her where she learned switching to solar as no downsides? LR district schools maybe?

The Reset will look like this
they should be disposed of as electronic or hazardous waste.
More hazardous waste in good for the environment.

Current generation are some of the most scientifically illiterate ever produced.

Which one of their dads owns the solar company?

Always nice when you can yell and scream and get what you want without having to pay for it

This is a perfect learning opportunity. Build a solar plant for them; power the school with it; then disconnect the grid. When they lose electricity, let them suffer for a week or two, then hold a vote on alternative versus traditional power.

Pay me 10K for each idea:
Turn off the water heater: cold showers for the athletes and phys ed classes
Winter thermostats: set to 45.
Everything that isn't winter: turn off the air conditioning.
Everybody brings a hand towel with them; no more wasted paper towels or blowing hot air.
Computers turned off completely all but one day a week.
Everybody drinks water, no other options offered and certainly no ice.

Oh really…..what about:
- The environmental impact of mining the materials required for solar panels?
- The economic impact of acquiring those rare minerals or finished solar panels from China.
- The environmental impact of dispoing of the solar panels after they reach end of life and do not safely degrade.
But it’s green energy so it has to be great right?
