At this stage in the game, with 350 million some people from all over the world with competing interests groups.

Small “l” libertarian ideas simply are not going to win elections. And the name of the game in politics is winning elections and wielding power. You can sit on the sidelines and wring your hands, but it doesn’t do any good when the Marxist left is running roughshod over this country

So yea sometimes you have to buy votes from stupid voters. Thats what you get in a small “d” democracy (which is what we have right now thanks to the 14th, 16th, 17th, and 19th amendments)

If you don’t like it. Then start advocating for the electorate to change and the franchise be reduced and for mass deportation of immigrants. Otherwise, offering rewards for votes is going to be a part of the equation. If the other side is doing this stuff to reward their friends, and secure their votes, then why wouldn’t our side do the same thing?

I never got a check or promises of a check from Ron DeSantis if our state was in debt. He's cut government spending 4 years in a row. Won by razor thin margins in his first run, then by 20 POINTS in his second run.

Milei won in the socialist shithole of Argentina in '23, then his party, which is less than 6 years old, DOMINATED their midterms.

The problem isn't libertarian ideals, the problem is a lot voters in the Republican party are absolute retards who nominate 00's Democrats for office, then the rest of us are stuck w/ voting "for" those spineless, rudderless candidates because the current Dems are even worse.

Look in the mirror, burger bearcat.

Your objection is you think Ron Desantis is a Libertarian?! He isn’t. Cutting the budget isn’t a libertarian idea. The problem with libertarians is they are essentially Democrats hiding behind another label because deep down they know admitting you support Leftist policies is an embarrassment. So, we are left with a bunch of anti Trumpers spouting their “above the fray” nonsense and “both sides” defense

What leftist policies?

You think government cutting spending is now associated w/ conservatism? Since when?

ETA; I also mentioned Milei. Best example in history of how libertarian ideas can flip even socialist societies to embracing smaller government, get rid of government agencies, and let liberty expand.

Again, the problem is Republican voters continue to nominate 00's Democrats.

Yeah I don't want income taxes but I'm not going to vote for the people that want to raise taxes on the "rich", so your best bet is still a Republican.

Depends which libertarians you're talking about. The Mises/Hoppean type, like me, want them locked down. Even better; We want to expel communists.

I know most of you aren't as knee deep in the differences among libertarian factions as I am, but if you looked into the Mises Caucus, Hoppean type of views, I think you'd love 'em.

Absolutely correct.

I respectfully disagree. I consider myself a Libertarian, but I have never and probably will never vote for a Democrat (especially this Democrat party). The problem with the Libertarian party is that they have been infiltrated by a huge swath of Socialist (aka Communist) scum that like to call themselves Libertarians so they can appear edgy to their comrades.

I don't agree with all Libertarian ideas (open borders is moronic) but I'm all for freedom. People should be allowed to do whatever they like, just as long as it doesn't impinge on the rights and freedoms of others.

But to respond to the OP's suggestion. I agree, but I think most real Libertarians are already getting over their "principled" positions and voting for conservatives. It's the communist scum that have infiltrated the party that is giving good Libertarians a bad name.

Yep, I'm a libertarian, philosophically an anarcho-capitalist, but the LP is a fricking embarrassment. I forgot who said it, but it was spot on. The LP is largely not about maximizing individual liberty and property rights, it's about not being judged. So, the LP ends up w/ all kinds of degenerates as members.

I associate as a libertarian, not with the libertarian party. Think Javier Milei, and there’s a true libertarian spirit working in real time to do what is needed. Not the soy infused betas who are more concerned with weed than freedom.

They want many things that aren't sustainable in a free civilized society. Open borders are one among many ideas they hold that simply will not work.

Sorry, the traditional argues of party are over.

We are now American Way Nationalists versus Globalists. That’s it. Democrats are 100% sold out to Globalism and the Republicans leadership is trying to expel the RINOS with them.

All that 3rd Party talk is nonsense to get the lesser of the Power 2 elected.

Open borders

Not necessarily a response to you, but a clarification on the issue.

As I stated earlier, open borders is a moronic idea. At least right now. It is a concept that people use to attack the Libertarian party and it's ideas. Is it sustainable right now, absolutely not. But most people don't understand the concept and I will do my best to explain it as short and concise as I can.

Think of our country and how we can easily travel through each state. It works great because we all have, relatively, the same ideas and concepts on how we should be governed. Open borders will work when the whole world is on the same page with the same socio-economic opportunities. Now I'm not talking about globalism as it is presented on today's stage. But in a "perfect world" (I know, it doesn't exist right now, that's why it's an Idea) open borders work and people can choose to live wherever they want.

Does it work now? Of course it doesn't. Will it ever work? Probably not. But one day I hope the whole world jumps on the same train and makes it a reality.

But like I said, it's an Idea. And much like Communism, it will never work because of, for the lack of a better way to say it, human greed and the need for power. Until we can throw off those shackles, open borders is a moronic idea that will not work and a strong border is a necessity to maintain our society.

Some are. It is a big tent.

I am generally OK with open borders, if non-citizens are guaranteed no taxpayer dollars

Already did in 2020. All Repubs gave me was a Bill Clinton Democrat.

Repubs, you guys need to do much, much better.

The frick is this gibberish?

The sooner you realise America, with its dollar, is the driving force behind globalism, the sooner you will stop spouting nonsense
