I know that. But giving free ID's to poor people would end their ability to claim racism and discrimination are the reasons motivating a push for voter ID laws.

I'll ask you the same thing.
How do they drive? How do they buy cigs and alcohol? How do they fly? How do they open bank accounts? How do they get medicine? How do they go to the casino? How do they rent a hotel room?
An id is a vital part of your every day life. And to claim that people are unable to get one is not only willful ignorance, but it literally contradicts every facet of modern day life. It is impossible to go through life without an id in today's world.
Maybe my downvote stalker would like to chime in and answer said questions?

In Mississippi, my daughter had to wait 2.5 hours before she could begin to take the learners permit test on computer. There were people there for all types of DLs. No problem with IDs being required, but it shouldn't take hours to get them.

In Louisiana, the dmv is opening offices in WALMART. So zero reason they can't pick up their govt issued ID after spending dem ebt cards

Zero percent chance this is even close to true. And if you believe that 23% of blacks and Hispanics have no ID then you really are a lost cause.
So I'll ask again.
How do they drive? (If they can afford a car, they can afford an ID)
How do they fly? (They can afford to fly, they can afford an ID)
How do they rent hotel rooms? (Same principle)
How do they go to the casino?(Once again... Same)
How do they get medicine?(Poor and elderly are the most likely to not have an id. They are also more likely to need medicine due to health issues such as diabetes, need pain meds, etc)
How do they rent an apt? (Need that ID yo)
How do they buy liquor? Cigs? (See a trend here yet?)
