The 'world' is stupid and deserves what comes if the 'world' attacks Russia.
But the U.S., Russia, and China each have enough nuclear weapons to end civilization by themselves, so the raw total stops adding to the deterrent value in any meaningful sense. After a thousand or so, you’re just stockpiling surplus apocalypse.
At this point, any of those countries can burn the house down. After that it's just flexing over who can set the ashes on fire more times.

How does Putin die?
If he launches on Ukraine only then we cannot deploy nukes on Russia because he will launch at us.
So we have no cards except economic sanctions or all out conventional war over Ukraine. If he starts losing a conventional war then there is always the chance he nukes us.

People thinking anyone will use nuclear weapons is quite comical. The response to it happening would be the end. The only Country that used them is us because we were the only ones with the Nukes and their wouldn't have been retaliatory strikes back.

I have said from Day one that his goal was probably the Dneiper.
He could have gone all in at the start, but slowplayed things. The Ukrainian defense was far more stout than he anticipated. His piecemeal approach against a motivated (and well armed Ukraine), not surprisingly, didn’t work.
He chose poorly (tactically).

Agreed. Putin and his personally chosen oligarchs have stolen an estimated trillion dollars from the government of Russia. Much of this is widely known in Russia.
Putin must have an "enemy", like Ukraine, to keep the focus off him. Once that focus shifts to him, Putin is done.
Not necessarily over Ukraine, but the 20ish years leading up to it.

Why would Putin Nuke Ukraine?
European powers are supplying the weapons that are hitting Russia. I suspect he would attack the EU countries who are building the rockets and drones.
