He is despised by people that despise the people that support him. This couldn’t be more obvious.
And trump says it all the time “it’s not me they hate, it’s you”. Trump was a celebrity for like 40 years, nobody ever hated him until he supported average, unimportant people. And that is exactly why people are getting outraged by they way he is being treated by the government. It’s an effort to silence opposition. And they will do it to the next guy, and they will do it to you.
Most people would say there are aspects of his personality that they don’t like, or just straight up not like him as a person. But he still has a huge following, which shows some people can separate how good of friends they can be with someone from how well they can do the job, and some can’t.

And this ^^^ is the problem, this is why the constitutional republic is in jeopardy. We have millions of uniformed, weak minded people who can't process information and data to make a prudent decision. We have millions of people that vote solely for the government's tit, they vote for a candidate that has been approved by late night television hosts who are leftists, they vote for a candidate because the Gaslight Media has destroyed their ability to think and behave independently of the media's influence.....we are living in the information war era....some understand and are less affected, millions have been captured by the leftist propaganda and others flatout resist and call out the psyop.

Agreed. Now, be honest with yourself, which is more likely: this changes, somehow, and they all begin thinking like you, or Trumps approach changes, thereby gaining their support?

Because if you choose poorly in a primary, you are guaranteed to lose, even if you win. And if you think they could steal it from Trump but would be okay with DeSantis winning, then you're a fool. You either crush them or you will be crushed, and you're not crushing them with a moderate, which is the only Republican they would cheat just enough to barely win.

I want my President to do his job not cede it to Fauci, to not let the country burn with riots and use his DOJ to investigate and prosecute voter fraud which they are charged with doing (not just whine about it on knock off twitter)

I’m a lot like you, I didn’t like Trump’s style but I liked his policies.
But I cringed every time he’d say something outrageous, and every time he’d fire someone and replace him only to fire the replacement. He didn’t know how to build a consensus or a strong administration.
And I can understand how independents were turned off by Trump to the point that they would vote for a Biden. Many became disgusted by Trump and his methods.
