Lee Greenwood pulls out of NRA concert this weekend

Well I'm sad to be an American

When I turn on my TV,

And I won't forget your pronouns, lest

You'll throw the jail on me,

And I'll prob'ly throw up, next to you

As I watch inflation raise,

'Cause there ain't no doubt,

you've fricked this land,

You've killed the USA!

The NRA is one of the only organizations offering real solitons with their School Shield program. They started it in 2012.

May not be smart. He rides one traincar....his Patriotic song. This cuck excuse sounded like a democratic talking point. He had no respect from the left, and this isn't going to earn him any with them. But he is going to lose respect from his core fan base.

If he felt he couldn't do it then back out quietly with a simple reason if asked, but he went off and got on a soap box and shot himself in the foot.

Yeah I don't get the cancel it crowd. In a way it's a good time for the NRA to discuss the topic seriously, and how to help.

Is this supposed to be surprising? Get some good optics and just reschedule later down the road.

This "background check" argument is absurd.

Would that have stopped what happened at Uvalde? No.

Would that stop the countless murders committed in inner cities every day by illegally obtained firearms? No.

Would that have stopped the MAJORITY of these "mass shootings" the left love as a talking point? No.

Can guns by obtained illegally that were trafficked across the southern border the same hysterical background check screamers refuse to police? Yep.

Greenwood, Gatlin, McClean and the rest of these fools can't think any further than their pocketbooks. And if they think this move is going to help them long-term, they're even larger fools.

Honestly I'm in agreement with you but had they rescheduled 2 days ago it would look ok. Now it would look like they are chicken littles b/c all of the acts have pulled out.

On the flip side, it's a good time to discuss responsible gun ownership.

Yea, if he didn't want to perform or didn't think it was appropriate, he should've just said it was due to timing and he didn't want to appear insensitive. He should have kept his opinions on gun control silent.

Poor business move. The people that already hated him, will still hate him. The people that love him will now hate him.

That was my thought. The Convention should have been re-scheduled.

But when it come to musicians... Most of them told the public to vote for Biden.

Gov. Abbott has also said he has cancelled his appearance at the event in light of the current situation. That's not an admittance of wrongdoing on his gun stances, just a little respect for those who are presently grieving.

Not to be a contrarian but if you read the story this exactly what he did it was Larry Gatlin that brought the nonsense about supporting the background check into the story.

I don't have an issue with this. Just don't be an idiot and piss off our constituency or fans.

Our society is worthless at this point. We blame inanimate objects instead of looking inward at what the true problem is.

No, this is the only society that pretends that no other society faces similar problems of mental health etc.

You guys suggest ideas like arming fricking teachers and armed guards which should be something only schools in a damn war zone do.

Guns absolutely increase homicide rates. There have been countless academic papers written on it.

I think people would be much more okay with gun owners if they were just honest and went:

'Yeah, guns do increase homicide rates and mass shootings but it's a price that I'm willing to pay in order to exercise my rights. '

I would find that fricking refreshing if someone actually said that. Instead of all this BS about armed guards, 'guns don't kill people, people kill people' while ignoring that other societies have far lower homicide rates even when you exclude gang crime and US urban areas.

I don't blame him. No reason for a concert. If he was calling for the event to be cancelled, that's one thing but he's not.
