The leaked records include the locations of ICE and CBP facilities, workers’ cell phone numbers, and the members of groups tied to wiretap programs, Palantir software, and xAI’s Grok chatbot

Details of more than 41,000 personnel working for the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS), including thousands involved in immigration enforcement, have been leaked to the public.
The leak includes names, work addresses and phone numbers of DHS staff, including agents working with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection, along with descriptions of the work they do for each agency.
Wednesday's leak marks the third time in recent weeks a government agency has been targeted by leaks or hacks.
A representative of the DHS did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The seemingly unprecedented breach of employee information was put online on Wednesday by a group called the Department of Peace alongside cybersecurity researcher and hacker maia crimew.
The information was put in a database named Icepick and shared through a website hosted by Distributed Denial of Secrets.
Most of the agents included, more than 21,000 of them, work for CBP, according to the data. Nearly 6,600 work for ICE.

Find the people who did this and terminate them.
Figuratively speaking.

If that's got home addresses then that's the one they would leak to start the attempt to shut down the department. And it would have taken a serious red team or a very deep and suicidal insider to get it.
That's extremely alarming because it could actually work. If they can start popping people at their homes, most of them will quit. I always assumed this was going to be done to take down the government but to selectively use it to take down an agency.... That's next level.

Sounds like this same crew that is planning to declare our federal government illegitimate. Or one of the myriad of groups connected to them. They call themselves "peacemakers." And they're also trying to spark off unrest as a stated goal.

What is the difference between this and Wikileaks and Assange?

One was a leak that included classified documents outlining the extent of illegal /unconstitutional wholesale surveillance of American citizens by the U.S. government, with intent (?) or at least result of alerting citizens of the activity.
The other was a leak of personal contact information on individual citizens charged with performing legal /appropriate/ constitutional duties, with the intent of intimidating and/or inducing violence for the purpose of interrupting performance of those lawful duties.

I prefer the literal definition of "terminate" them.

This will backfire spectacularly. These ICE agents have shown great restraint.

WIRED, which reviewed the data dump, reported that the leak maps out organizational structure, reporting lines, facility locations, and permission groups for sensitive programs.
The report noted, “The Trump administration has prosecuted protesters for posting information about individual ICE officers and warned others for doing so. In June, 15 Minnesota residents were charged under laws related to stalking and threats of violence, which prosecutors linked to their participation in ICE-opposition activities. More than 100 HSI agents, including undercover operatives, took part in an operation that included widespread surveillance and infiltration of group chats.”
In all, the leak provides a map of how DHS is organized and how it operates.
The records, which span DHS itself as well as seven component agencies, including Immigration and Customs Enforcement and US Customs and Border Protection, were last updated on August 19, 2026. The transparency nonprofit Distributed Denial of Secrets and cybersecurity researcher and journalist maia arson crimew previewed the data for WIRED, which they say they obtained from a group calling itself the Department of Peace.
DDoSecrets published the archive, which it calls “Icepick,” on Wednesday. In a press release, DDoSecrets says the data is from DHS's Okta login system. In a note with the files, the hackers wrote, “They have our information, so it’s only fair that we have theirs.”
An Okta spokesperson tells WIRED that it is unaware of any breach of its systems. “We are aware of this report. Okta is secure, and we have no evidence our data or systems were compromised,” the spokesperson says.
It's a big club...

you may be right about the Manning leaks, I frankly don't recall the details
My post was less a defense of Manning as it was an affirmation of condemnation of the more recent leak, directed at the poster who was attempting to conflate the two leaks (you).
does anyone have a better brief summary of wiki leaks?
