Ok, I'll ask the question on everyone's mind - Why would the Russian government do something like this that is so harmful to their own forces?
Yeah, Putin's in his bunker now. He doesn't care about the Russian forces in Ukraine anymore. He's concentrating full time on the Russian forces in Moscow...

The full thread containing all the Kafkaesque orders and punishments concerning the use of Telegram.
Short term, this means we will see less posted videos of exploding Russian infrastructure as this is now illegal and the police are actively hunting for violators. So the well-loved Bavovnas© of the Week may be limited to Ukrainian monitoring drone feeds. Maybe we can put together a Top 100 Hits video to fill the void.

So why not just let the sanctions stay, and hurt Iran's benefactor?
How much of an impact do you think Russia's support is actually having on Iran like now? Seems to be close to zero at this point

In Principle... what support Russia has provided could actually work against Iran... through misinformation and/or us somehow tracking where the info is going and providing targets

If tweet fails to load, click here. For all practical purposed Russia has been driven out of the Dnipetrovsk this week, Ukraine continues to advance in the Zap oblast, concerns about the military leading a coup against him, and now may have launched another invasion into Russia. I have not been able to verify this yet. However, if true then Putin's week just went from bad to worse.

It's hard to know what's really going on over there but the sunshine pumping from the Russian side does indeed seem to be at an all-time low.

I think Ukraine would be committing national suicide if it blew up the kremlin with a missile

You think Russia would nuke Ukraine as a result of a Kremlin hit?

What's Putin going to do? Invade Ukraine? Attack Ukrainian civilian targets with hundreds of drones and dozens of missiles every night for years?
As far as nuclear weapons, no. Putin is a psychopath but he's not stupid. The Poles have made it abundantly clear - radiation in Ukraine is radiation in Poland. And that's an act of war.
But if recent history is a guide, that won't have to happen. The far greater threat to Putin would be the internal reaction within Russia. There would be a revolt against this within the Russian command structure, security agencies and population in general.
If Putin uses a nuke, the opposing factions within the Russian security services would declare open season on him. These factions are almost there right now. A nuke would end all of Putin's remaining support and the residual leadership would immediately stop the fighting in hopes of a fast ceasefire.
Finally, Putin's location and movements would be reported to Ukrainian and Western security services as well as home-grown kill teams. Remember Hostomel? Those people are still in place. This is the main reason there is no Internet in Moscow and St. Petersburg now.
At that point it would simply be a race to the airport. If he's lucky.

TACO's desperate enough but Putin won't allow it.

This is the strategy in the long range drone war - use undetectible drones to take out air defense systems and follow that with the missiles to targets.
Right now, Ukraine has the drones for such a mass wave attack, but not the missiles. Yet. They have the long range missiles designed, tested and produced. All they need now are the numbers.

Ukrainian SOF strike secret Russian Rubikon base in Donetsk
Overnight on March 18, the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (SOF) conducted a series of Middle Strike operations against enemy targets in the temporarily occupied Donetsk region, including a secret base of the Russian unmanned systems center Rubikon.
According to Ukrinform, the SOF command reported this on Telegram and released corresponding footage.
“In Donetsk, long-range SOF drones struck the base of the secret Russian unmanned systems center Rubikon as well as the control element for this unit. Additionally, the coordination center for enemy drone units in the occupied city was destroyed,” the statement said.
In the temporarily occupied village of Vilne, warehouses storing ammunition, equipment, and materiel, as well as the site for accumulation and distribution of munitions, were hit.
“SOF units carry out Middle Strike operations against enemy targets in occupied Ukrainian territory. Resistance Movement underground operatives contributed to the success of this series of strikes,” the SOF noted.

Kind of self defeating in that they are reliant on the Strait being open and the US isn't UNLESS they buy Russian

Telegram fights back in Russia: "Telegram proxies are currently launching a counter-attack against Roskomnadzor’s (RKN) censorship infrastructure, flooding its filters with junk data and overloading them to a critical state. As a result, not only is Telegram suffering, but so is a host of other services—including those the authorities had intended to leave alone.
Consequently, service disruptions are being observed nationwide, even affecting platforms that were never targeted for blocking—such as websites on RKN’s "whitelist," certain government services, and occasionally even VKontakte.
An interesting side effect has emerged: in several regions, WhatsApp (specifically voice and video calls) has suddenly sprung back to life. [Note: WhatsApp messages are automatically encripted.] This occurred because the TSPU (Technical Means of Countering Threats) system temporarily "eased up" on certain filters in an attempt to cope—however imperfectly—with the massive primary load generated by Telegram.
This is currently one of the most widely discussed instances of "technical trolling" directed at RKN in recent years.
I have a feeling that Durov’s team is going to make life very difficult for RKN in the future—especially when comparing the skill levels and salaries of Durov’s programmers against those of RKN’s mediocre coders, who are scraping by on peanuts. (After all, the truly talented programmers have either emigrated or are working for private companies.)
