Little wimpy boys like you have no clue and it wasn't nearly as bad in TX and LA as elsewhere. We didn't feel it down here in 1973 except price bump at the pump. Just a drop in 3.5% refining capacity caused shortages at the pump with little price rise. Some stations wouldn't open until midnight.

"Soldiers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces are deserting en masse — both inside Ukraine and during training abroad — due to growing distrust in the military-political leadership. This was stated by Dmitry Ryumshin, former commander of the 155th brigade.
Ryumshin himself was previously suspected of overseeing mass desertion within his own unit. According to him, the distrust of the authorities is the main driver, but there are at least seven additional reasons fueling the problem:
1.Lack of real punishment — for a long time, first-time deserters were exempt from responsibility. Although this norm has already expired, it shaped a culture of impunity.
2.Ineffective law enforcement — the police do not actively search for deserters, and those caught face no real consequences, not even administrative ones.
3.Unclear service terms — under martial law, soldiers serve without fixed timeframes, which destroys morale.
4.Low motivation of mobilized recruits — many were conscripted despite previously evading service or showing little willingness to fight.
5.Disruption of unit cohesion — motivated soldiers are often transferred from one unit to another, leaving comrades behind and sparking fears of being thrown into battle unprepared.
6.Chaotic deployment after foreign training — personnel trained abroad were sometimes sent directly into combat zones by the Western Operational Command, without commanders. For example, troops were dispatched to Pavlograd straight from the border, while brigade and battalion headquarters were still in training in France.
7.Mismanagement of headquarters — command staff were repeatedly sent to long-term exercises (the same drills up to three times), which degraded the quality of leadership and undermined work with personnel."

Of course, it's actually a bad analogy, because Russia is the predator trying to take over other countries. Anyone who wants more governments and more countries to actually exist supports Ukraine. The people in the world like John Barron want a world dominated by the US, Russia, and China, with all other countries essentially subject to one of those three. They very much oppose the true independence of other countries.
Yes.
I think you were taking a sanity break from this place (not that I blame you) when I posted something about that...
But you might not agree with that assessment that Trump himself wants that... and it's what's behind his statements and actions regarding Canada, Greenland and Mexico, and his support of leaders like Milei and Bolsonaro... he wants to be the Putin or Xi of the Americas, and leave Europe to Putin and the Pacific to Xi and their subordinate strongmen in the regions. That way, they can all turn their militaries inward to suppress resistance and stop modernization from forcing social change. It was what was done in Europe, by the agreement of leaders, for a brief period in the mid-19th Century before they fell into fighting between themselves again.

What happens when Denmark shuts the straits down to Russian cargo, both coming and going? It's not like the Russian navy can even handle a no navy nation.

Trump told Erdogan to stop buying Russian oil
September 25, 2025, 01:49 PM
U.S. President Donald Trump told Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan that he would like Ankara to stop buying Russian oil until Moscow ends its war against Ukraine, Trump said on Sept. 25.
“While Russia continues this conflict against Ukraine, I would like him [Erdogan] to stop buying any oil from Russia,” Trump said in front of reporters just before a White House meeting with Erdogan. He added that Russia’s economy is under strain and called the fighting in Ukraine “a waste of human life.”
“[Russian dictator Vladimir] Putin must stop,” the U.S. president said.
Trump also touted his personal rapport with Erdogan, saying, “When I was in exile, we remained friends,” a reference to the period after Trump’s 2020 election defeat.
He praised Turkey’s military buildup and its purchases of U.S. arms, including F-16 and F-35 aircraft.
“They want to acquire F-16s, F-35s and some other systems, and we will discuss that today,” Trump added.
In recent weeks, the U.S. president leaned onto European leaders to phase out purchases of Russian hydrocarbons and urged Brussels to sanction Indian and Chinese exporters of oil products, given their reliance on the flow of cheap Russian crude.
On Sept. 16, an unnamed EU diplomat told Politico that Trump could effectively halt Russian oil imports to the EU with “one phone call” to Slovak and Hungarian PMs, Robert Fico and Viktor Orban, respectively.

Quote: "I had a meeting with the First Lady of the USA, Melania Trump. We discussed our shared values, foremost among them the protection of children and their childhood.
I thanked Mrs Melania for her support of Ukraine, particularly for her attention to children who have become victims of Russia’s brutal war against Ukraine – including her letter urging Putin to secure peace for children.
I greatly value her open-heartedness on this issue, as well as her commitment to the well-being of children around the world...
I am sincerely grateful to Melania Trump for today’s meeting and look forward to further cooperation to protect what is most precious in the world – our children. For today, their protection is not just a collective endeavour but a shared responsibility for our future."

You ever live in Florida fellow SEC fan?
I came across this story yesterday, and I immediately thought of our resident kremlin spokesman John Barron. Sure do hope for your sake, you are getting compensated in some way for your 50 posts a day of pro russia and china narratives exclusively.
ETA: Actually, you stopped posting for like 2 months I believe, so it's more like 55-60 billable events a day for you.

At this point it seems the only way someone is actually going to win this thing is if they use those weapons

I am on record saying I think Ukraine will eventually fail, but what failure as of today? They have held on remarkably well and hit Russian infrastructure in a meaningful way (though I do not think it has been quite as crippling as some narratives suggest).
If Europe is so worried about this, they could just invest more in Ukraine's defense. Do they not know that is an option?
These are excellent questions.
Let me be clear about this:
Russia is going to lose this war.
I'm telling you this as someone who has not only looked at war as a professional for decades now but has multiple tours as a soldier. This has nothing to do with right or wrong, or who started what, or any political intrigue before or during this war, rather it is a hard reality based on facts and figures. Russia simply doesn't have the resources to take over all of the Ukraine - which is their only real goal - and after three and a half years of watching the Russians muck it up there is absolutely no reason to believe it's going to get better for them. Rather, all of the momentum is with the Ukrainians and it's only going to get better for them in a one-on-one scenario.
As far as Europe's commitment to Ukraine goes, Europe now has multiple countries investing nine figures each into Ukraine's drone defense industry because they no doubt realize that drones are the future and they are also much cheaper than conventional defenses. So, when you combine Europe's capital and manufacturing capabilities with Ukraine's drone technology, Russia's advantages are pretty much wiped out. Even their manpower advantage starts to look like a weakness.

Medvedev and Putin are both from St. Petersburg and have known each other since their youth, aka, yute...
Also, the name Medvedev means "son of a bear" in Russian. "Bear" is "medved."

China is waiting at the back door; while Putin fritters away assets in Ukraine. It’s just a matter of time until China lets themselves in.
