A global shortage of sulfur is a really big deal. High sulfur crude oil such as that in CA, Canada, IRAN, and Venezuela is the answer.

There is a literal mountain of sulfur in Ft. McMurray Canada, a byproduct of their oil sands extraction. There was not enough price incentive to ship it out so they just made huge piles of the stuff. Fortunately it is not water soluble so they just leave it out in the weather. If the price gets high enough to ship it out then the supply is enormous.

Marathon in Garyville was paying to dispose of it, A number of state allow it to be spread on fields, not Lousiiana. It was $15 a ton several yhears ago. The problem with your noted location is freight cost to a ship. In the heyday of caostal sulfur mines in TX and LA it was shipped molten to terminal for loading ships. It had to be blasted to break a[part of being solidified into several story high blocks
