Shouldn’t be till 25-26. Frontal lobe development is just then starting to complete.

Almost never = it does occassionally

The dimissive language is an attempt to reduce the severity of the thing in consideration. It creates a room subconsciously for one to hold disparate ideas regarding what is essentially a life-altering castration.

This is a popular falsity that is intended to push back the age one is considered an adult.

In truth, the brain continues to develop for the entirety of a person's lifecycle; creating new pathways and severing old pathways continuously until the electro-chemical processes we call "life" cease.

Repeating braindead thoughts like the one quoted above, is the neurological equivalent to repeating the myth of swallowing spiders in our sleep.

That’s because states like Florida are about to replace them with other credentialing boards for being leftist wackos.

Still should. This isn't far enough. "Gender affirming care" shouldn't be encouraged for anyone. Call it "elective cosmetic surgery," and we're good. Calling it "gender affirming care" is a complete lie. Gender affirming care would help someone be comfortable with his/her actual gender, not whatever nonsense he/she believes himself/herself to be.

Agree 100%.

They’re just biding their time and would revert the moment they see an opportunity because they’re run by hard leftists who have supported racist DEI policies and extremist medical procedures while ignoring science to placate the political party they support and the pharma companies who pay their salaries.

I'm not sure I believe this. I think they're scared of lawsuits. They saw the huge judgement against the "doctor" who mutilated a child, and a lawyer told them "hey, you said this is good to do and now people are losing money over it."

Both organizations are now stating officially that gender-affirming care should be relegated to those (adults) 19 and over.

You can keep it if I can get an elective amputation. I’m against elective amputation.

My gosh, do they realize how much money they will lose now? Virtue-Signaling Leftist Parents are willing to spend tens of thousands to Gender-Affirm little Walter and Pixie.

They abused their own credibility in order to virtue signal.

About damn time. I don’t care what people call themselves. But consent to such surgeries should be reserved for adult adults only.

They have to either become a blue state entity safe to operate as they want to in blue states under blue state protections or straddle the messaging like a RINO in a red district to remain an exclusive national credentialing board.

They’re attempting option B but I want them replaced with something that reboots the function to an independent non DEI entity. I’m less concerned with the specifics of how that outcome is accomplished than seeing it take place.

Firstly, F the AMA. Secondly, this should have been the recommendation long, long ago. Want to do something surgically that permanently and irreversibly changes your body in dramatic ways forever? Must be an adult. Shouldn’t be controversial.
Refreshing to see a doctor that is not fooled by the AMA. Follows suit that you have a sane and moral opinion on this matter. Respect. (My wife has these exact stances)

I do believe in at least California, it is now law that a minor can be removed from the home if the parent(s) are not affirmative of the minor’s gender identity.

Wonder if the American Academy of Pediatrics will also be changing their stance? Link to their policy and them reaffirming it in 2023.

That they ever had any other position is absolute lunacy and shows how susceptible the soft sciences are to junk science snowballing.

Insanity. It will all change after the first lawsuit.

To be clear, neither one are credentials boards. ABPS (American Board of plastic surgeons) is the Board, and States give license to practice.
