There is a lot of exposure here - some folks have actually committed crimes here, and there will be charges, disbarment and judicial disciplinary proceeding, and probably a federal civil rights violation

The city will try to dodge paying this like every other judgment against them.
The state will likely pay it by redirecting money otherwise intended for NOLA.

Murrill's press conference linked on page 1 outlined multiple possible crimes and ethical violations. Those were some of them

Can someone explain the background that led up Murrill sending her letters to the City councilmen/ DA and to the grand jury issuing the indictment? Meaning - what’s the deal with two clerk of courts and what the legislature did and what the New Orleans officials tried to do that got Murrill and Landry all fired up.

AG’s don’t get special “civil rights” to protect them from Grand Jury indictments, frivolous or not.
Sending threatening letters after the State interferes with the outcome of a legitimate local election isn’t a routine duty of an AG, anyway.
