Charges seem to have a bit more to it than the Murrill indictment.
What gives Hutson and Brown's charges merit?

Hutson was indicted for the City not increasing funding for the jail, and essentially for being a bad sheriff after she lost re-election.

Explain what this means.

It means that Liz Murrill indicted a local official and requested an extremely high and unnecessary bond, so Orleans indicted a State official and requested an extremely high and unnecessary bond.

You stated that the indicment had merit.

I said the fact that a Grand Jury indicted shows that the charges had merit.

Calling it like I see it… you are a dumb bitch. That is totally based on the post you make on this board. You are nothing but a low iq partisan species who shouldn’t reproduce. Your husband must be one miserable bastard having to listen to your bullshite or he is the biggest cuck pussy around. Either way, I’m sure he regrets settling for your ugly, fat arse….he must have been desperate

Yep. No one was excited about anyone running for governor.

Maybe, if the DA/prosecutor was the one who brought the charges (or if she had pressed the charges to trial in the face of contrary evidence, rather than NP'ing them- which is what happened here.)

But I believe that members of a grand jury (and/or petite jury) should have the highest degree of legal immunity, even in the face of overwhelming evidence that the "charges" at issue were frivolous, pointless, and politically motivated. I think that immunity has to be baked in for the institution to work.

Your point seems to assume that everything here came under the typical grand jury process for bringing charges. If that were indeed the case (or proven to be so), I'd likely concede your point.

There are a lot of indications and credible suggestions that what went down here was anything but normal.

Thus, it seems reasonable to examine it all a bit more before drawing such a conclusion . Surely, you aren't trying to suggest there is no way the grand jury process could be corrupted and, as such, we should never even consider such a thing, huh?

I can probably google this, but are Grand Juries called for singular indictments or is it like a full day of indictments?

In other words, was this GJ called just for Murrill charges or did they consider other charges too? (assuming there is a way to know this?)

I'm not sure, but I'm also not sure how that has any relevance here either way.

I don't suspect this grand jury was convened solely to bring forth this goofy indictment, though. They are typically convened for a set timeframe to hear any number of matters.

Are you suggesting there couldn't be corruption involved in one and maybe not the others? Hell, I don't know what you're getting at here, so I won't speculate further.

The optics are more suspicious if they were just called for this one thing, imo.

Disappointed in that you make bad decisions?

They may elect Mamdami's up North, but those kind of candidates aren't getting elected in The South. But your "love" choices do point to why you are mostly always disappointed.

No, but there was a point that she may have been arrested, and also the matter of her being able to do her job would also have been an issue, but there would have had to have been many many conversations regarding all types of idiosyncrasies within what that in itself constituted or didn't. It would have made for a very complex and ugly matter and let's just all agree that we are thankful we don't have to live through that because it would have made the whole state look bad.

Also, the Supreme Court didn't dismiss the indictment like you claimed.
No, but the DA's office who convinced the Grand Jury to indict Murrill voluntarily & unilaterally dismissed the indictments after the State Supreme Court cut him off at the knees.

And now he & the Special Prosecutor claim they have no idea why the GJ indicted her in the first place.

You keep ignoring this part. In the other thread too.

. The AG also didn't break the law by arresting reporters and shutting the doors on the indictment proceedings. Kind of a big differentiator there, don't you think?

Correction: Handcuffing and removing reporters from the courtroom, just so we dont' get hung up on semantics.

What part? You quoted me saying that the indictment demonstrates that the GJ thought the charges had merit.

I'm not sure why you think that factoid has any relevancy.

3 people in the whole state could've voted, and as long as 2 of them voted for him, he's the governor.

It's a complete cope.

Tons of politicians around the country, good ones and shitty one, received a paltry percentage of registered voters. It means absolutely nothing.

Well no. I'm sure GJ's have been bribed in the past, and I obviously think that should be investigated. But I don't think that's what anyone is claiming here (if I'm wrong, I'm wrong). I think what Landry really wants is an investigation to show that this GJ was "politically motivated" or "out to get him" or something to that effect. And I don't think that is or should be grounds for an investigation.

To the extent that this GJ was not "under the typical grand jury process" I think that's obviously true, but the remedy is overruling the bill, which has already happened here.

Of course in the end it's all grandstanding, in both directions. And as this thread shows, the people who he wants to eat it up are eating it up.

typically, they are picked like regular jurors and have to serve a period of time meeting on certain dates and times to hear cases being presented for prosecution. They can be convened to hear a certain, single case as well, which is what happened here.

The issue here (alleged) that this grand jury was presented "facts" by a "special prosecuter" (who happens to be a political hack) as being political in nature, basically a slap and smear (indict AG on BS even though EVERYONE with even a smidge of sense knew it wouldnt actually be prosecuted.) on the state AG for her barking at the city (dont matter if AG right or wrong, nothing to do with the issue at hand).

Now to the problem...the city didnt expect the AG to say hold my beer, load up and throw a counter-punch. Now the city, especially Ms. special is shitting in pants right now because they know they are guilty of what they are being accused of., and it can potentially be a big problem for those involved. Again, it does not matter if the AG barking at the city was right or wrong, or even legal or illegal, the issue here is using a grand jury to indict someone to intimidate them (alledged), that is illegal, and if proven true is going to be problematic for some involved. Dirty politics is a way of life down here, same as everywhere else, but the saying :if you take a shot at the king , you best not miss" rings true here. Alot of times, people go down for shite that comes up while being looked for unrelated issues..keep an eye on this one, could get real good if the feds get involved
