People are tired of paying property taxes with little benefit
We have shite roads and they never seem to improve. Public buildings are all shite too.
We do have a decent recreation district but probably have more playgrounds than most cities this size
The fire station closest to me is now only occupied part-time so what are we paying for?

Evangeline Parish shot down a library tax and a road tax. People are tired of paying taxes and getting nothing in return.

My neighbors haven’t met a tax they don’t vote ‘yes’ on. It’s infuriating.

Problem is these bastards will just bring it up to vote over and over and over.

Lafourche too.
They voted down a Council on Aging Renewal and two Library Renewals.
Council on Aging was a shocker, but the Library ones needed to fail they were collecting millages for years to rebuild and refurbish several libraries in the parish. I remember a push on one of the renewals was 3 large centralized branches. Never came to fruition. The closest they got was a branch in South Lafourche that was in an old Walmart and was built in conjunction with the Parish to add parish offices and head start at the same location. The building was damaged for Ida and took nearly 4-5 years to renovate.
I think people are tired of paying property taxes and they see the value of their homes going up and taxes increasing with value and little to no services on the back end.

Awesome. Tired of hearing it's not a new tax it's a renewal too.

These appear to be renewals which almost never lose.
Now if they try to re-institute them, it will be labeled as "new" taxes

The work around for when we vote NO on any new property taxes is the tax assessor comes by and raises the appraisal on our property each year. It's ridiculous how much they appraise it for and how much it has risen in the last 10 years.

There's room for improvement where I'm at in WP. Most people aren't taxed what the law says they should be. I'd rather everyone pay what they're supposed to. If there's still a budget shortfall then we need to see how much admin we can get rid of.

You’ve obviously never been to Lake Charles. I live there for 15 years. It’s a great place.

Lafayette parish finally shot down a tax hike too, I’m very surprised
