There is legislation somewhere out there with what he is talking about, which is why I asked if it had passed.

Yeah it passed in December of 2024. The wages are adjusted for inflation annually.

Per ChatGPT:

“On December 11, 2024, the Los Angeles City Council voted to approve a major expansion/amendment to the existing Hotel Worker Minimum Wage Ordinance.”

And immediately be replaced by robots.

In other news, Progressives baffled why unemployment is so high and life is so expensive…

So the hotel will have one employee at the desk, and will outsource clean linen to an outside contractor, and room cleaning to an outside firm as well.

So, $25 / hr. Every full time employee has added benefits such as health insurance , social security match, etc.

Like clockwork. Some progtard tries to diminish the negative effects of progtardism.

Why not bump that minimum up to $100 per hour? If $33 is good, surely $100 is more good.

Unlike fast food, hotels can't pivot to automation in most aspects.

Also can't pick up and move.

And hotel guests are out of town Rd who can't vote there.

This will mean fewer conventions, and vacationers staying in Anaheim.

I love this for them. It is going to cause absolute chaos down the line. As someone who doesn't go to LA often, I can't wait to see them navigate this.

It's gonna be awesome entertainment from afar.

It’s a pure political play

It makes no sense in economic theory

Imagine being a manager that makes 35/hour and then a law changes that requires $33 min wage…. You suddenly got a reduction in pay

Also, since they’ll be laying off half the staff, you’ll also get a lot more responsibilities. Yesterday you were a $35/hr manager. Now you’re a $33/hr manager/clerk/maintenance man/hospitality worker.

Hotels going to be lined up at the county line like liquor stores next to dry counties.

Throwing money at ALL issues have proven NOT to be the solution!

$33/hr room cleaners will create an economic fallout that can be unpredictable....just like burger flippers....

Most people have no idea what the true economics are....they just want more money!

DEMS think money grows on trees, seriously!

My buddy works in the hotel industry and told me they will be required to pay up to $33 an hour for all employees.

$25 base and an $8 benefit for health insurance.

Said all the cost will be passed to the consumer through increased prices.

Tourism is dropping, social service costs are increasing, the tax base is fleeing so let's raise prices on tourists?

Within the next year or two there will be a story run about how hotel industry jobs in LA County have been cut and hotels there are closing down.

AirBnB and VRBO are about to clean up. I assume whatever people clean those units are not part of the group getting the mandatory wage (which will mean the price of houses and apartments will go up as more people enter the host racket). Smart move
