Ken Paxton Says DC Controls His Texas Senate Campaign in Leaked Audio

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton was heard on leaked audio complaining that he has little control over his U.S. Senate campaign, saying key decisions and messaging are being directed from Washington.
“I’ve never been in a race where I felt less control over the campaign and, like, what issues are going to matter because it’s all coming, you know, from D.C.,” Paxton said, in part, at a private fundraiser last month.
He also said in the leaked audio that securing votes in Texas “comes down to your messaging, which in a federal race comes from other people a lot of times, which you don’t control.”

The latest recording is not the first leaked audio to complicate Paxton's campaign in recent weeks.
Last week, The New York Times published leaked audio that it said revealed Paxton telling conservative donors and lobbyists that the midterm Republican National Convention in Dallas on September 9-10 had damaged his campaign.
In the audio, someone asks, “Do you feel like [Trump's] a little bit of a drag?” to which the man purported to be Paxton replies: “So to be honest with you, the numbers, when we did that convention, it dropped our numbers. Everybody’s numbers dropped. Right now, yeah, not good.”
In response to the remarks, Nick Maddux, a senior Paxton adviser, told reporters: “This is more manipulated nonsense from The New York Times to create a story that doesn’t exist.”

Paxton’s campaign needs to figure out who the hell is recording these things without his permission, then leaking them to the media.

That audio is just a tiny snippet of what he said. Absolutely no doubt in my mind that the audio is taken completely out of context. Only liars, propagandists, don't give the entire audio/story in context.
When it's found out that what he was saying is totally different than what the media is implying here, I'd be all for having some of these people's fingers chopped off.

I’m sure he actually said it bc he’s that stupid but I can’t help but think also at how easy it is for anyone to use AI to create fake audio that can do a lot of damage to a campaign

You think you got the entire context of what he was saying?
I don't care if he's a good candidate or not, the media knows anchor bias is a real thing and so many stupid beliefs in society are because of anchor bias.

No, I didn’t hear the whole conversation, just like you didn’t. I don’t know how that small part of the conversation becomes positive when some context is provided. Either way, I don’t care. I don’t care for crooked Ken but will still vote for him because of what he has done for this state.

It's almost as if there was a poster on this board that kept sharing this type of information months and months ago

Agree.
But who the hell is recording this stuff and taking it to the media? Someone in his campaign? A third party person who is working on a story his campaign supports, but then is asking questions “off the record” and recording them without his permission?
I do think Paxton is a complete self absorbed POS and a horrible candidate to be chosen as the GOP flag bearer for this race, but even that aside, something else is going on that he and/or his campaign manager need to get a hold of.

It's a $/plate "party" in the heart of DC. If you're selling access, you can't be surprised when the opposition shows up.

Yes.
The media is the enemy. Our society is filled to the teeth with stupid people in large part because the media is in the business of promoting narratives, not truth.

No disagreement there.

and?
And, as a Texan myself, I would hope my Senator would, you know, not be led around on a leash by DC like a good little puppy dog.
I assume you like being a Cuck, however. That only the few can lead the many.
