The cartels undercutting legal marijuana growers with their product
This is not a forced labor situation. This is taking advantage of market inefficiency.
The “legal” marijuana is saddled with so many taxes and regulations it’s often cheaper to still get it illegally.
I suspect this is an issue where prostitution is made “legal”
They have regulations, taxes, disease and drug testing, perhaps citizenship requirements. This drives people underground.

yes, the left has long wanted universal background checks on all firearm purchases
And they’ll want regulations on sex work, so your comparison is invalid.

SFP brought up the OF hos and Instagram thots.
But I'll add in the high body count women.
If they could get away with charging for it, they'd do it.

It’s really a matter of timing. A woman can freely give you sexual favors and you can freely give her money. You just can’t do it at the same time.

I have my doubts about it doing it to a great extent with sex work however. In the case of marijuana there is alternate supplies, illicit, that get merged with regular legal supply for cover at the distributors.
In the case of sex workers, legalized and regulated, the supplier is the distributor. Which limits that. I'm not saying it won't happen ever. I'm saying because of that limiting factor it won't be as widespread.

We can't criminalize consensual behavior of consenting adults
- me and another adult who happens to be a competitor for selling widgets decide that we are going to charge the exact same, inflated, price for those widgets.
Yes, price fixing is illegal. But not if you decriminalize it because we are both consenting adults it isn't any longer.

Trafficking is still a big problem in countries where it's legal
We would then be able to divert the resources used to arrest and prosecute prostitutes and johns to target the traffickers. Legal prostitution would help move some prostitution to establishments like brothels and away from the streets and hourly motels. This would allow easier oversight by regulators and make it easier to recognize the trafficking victims.

The girls they are pumping will claim it’s consensual if asked under fear of retribution from the pimps

Done right, it could work well. Decriminalize it, but make it available only in licensed establishments. This gives the street walker the option of legal protection from the establishment rather than depending on a pimp for protection. It also protects the consumer by requiring regular tests for stds.
Nevada has been doing this forever with the legal ranches and it seems to work for them.

Her position should really help out with sex trafficking.
I guess she doesn't see that connection at all.
Hey it worked for her as a consenting adult. Her payment was in a different form though.

So if me and a crack rock both consent I can smoke it?

Pimps are in the protection racket, for an illegal trade. They would be virtually non-existent if prostitution were legal.
In a lot of areas the cops don't care or can't get to it, if a street girl gets beat up or seriously hurt.
I don't think that will change if they make it legal.
Hos will need protection, legal or illegal. Especially in the inner cities.
Pimps are also protection for getting paid. John doesn't pay? Pimp takes a bat to his knee. John then coughs up cash or pimp moves up to John's ribs.

think a lot of people here have a hard time grasping how much the stigma of being a sex worker has changed by generations.
It's a full time racket now.
Acquire as many simps as possible. The more they "donate" or "tip" the better.

Our oh so beloved IRS (yes that's sarcasm) is after OF with a serious passion.
I don't remember exact figure, but over a million in unpaid taxes. And they're going after some of the "models" for the same reasons.

This is a horrible analogy. Price fixing has a negative affect on other people, and on the market as a whole. Two consenting adults have sex doesn't affect anyone else.

Honest question- isn’t tindr (spelling?) basically just a let’s meet up and have sex app?
If so, why would anyone need prostitutes these days?

I've often wondered this as well. Seems there's innumerable ways for anyone these days with little effort or cost - monetarily or otherwise.
Perhaps maybe the consumer appeal of street level prostitution is really just for what it is?
