I worked at McDonald's in high school. It has never been on a post-college resume, nor have I ever included it in a book.
I really did work there, however.

Not really. She's making the claim in an attempt to reach out to those who've worked menial jobs in their youth (which is a lot of people) in an attempt to say "See? I'm one of you."
If that turns out to be a lie, it exposes not only how fake she is but also how desperate she is to garner any support she possibly can by blatantly lying about something as mundane as having a service industry job.
