MAGA populism is willing to compromise with the big spending GOP moderates to get the bill passed and get many MAGA wins.
Nothing says “winning” like bending the knee to the GOPe. As I noted in the other thread, the GOPe is bending MAGA to their will, not the other way around. TeaParty 2.0.

Well my mexican friend, you don't see the whole picture.

That's 1.6 Trillion cut from the Biden Budget PLUS another 2.5 Trillion PLUS roughly 500 Billion in DOGE cuts.

That's over 4 Trillion in deficit reduction.

Props to MAGA for condensing the 5 Stages of Grief, though. They just go from denial straight to acceptance, and it rarely takes longer than 5 minutes.

Yet the deficit will grow under this bill. Weird how that works.

Social Security should not be taxed. Tips and overtime should 100% be taxed.

Do you have a similar list of the bad shite in the bill? Or, do you believe it is all sunshine and rainbows? I assume you've read all 1,100+ pages of the bill (well, that's the House version of the bill, who knows how many pages the Senate will add).

This.

Not working on balancing the budget is absurd. Actually, it’s kind of embarrassing.

I really hope this Elon stuff is fake. If not, the Republican Party and Trump is as hopelessly lost as the Democrats.

And that would be the saddest thing

Have you ever worked an 84 hour week only to get your check a see that your “time and a half” overtime pay was effectively cut to regular time pay because of taxes? It’s pretty disheartening for people who bust their asses to try to improve their lives.

How can we achieve the stated goal of 2% inflation without an overspending fiscal policy to support monetary goals?

We already knew the DC Republicans (there are decent things being done in some states) were lost. Some people thought Trump would break the cycle, and he did in a few areas, but not the biggest one. When it comes to spending he's just more of the same.

Those are 50 good things, but extending the spending cap is very bad and basing deficit reduction on tariff revenues a decade out is ridiculous!

If the spending limit is raised 4 billion, Congress will find every reason to hit that limit.
What have they ever done to make us think they won't???

And again, you are not seeing the whole picture at all. You are operating under the assumption that this is all there is.

You are going off of 1 CBO report. And that is not the whole picture.

1) Deficit Increase: Adds $2.4T–$5.8T to debt over 10 years
2) AI Regulation Ban: Blocks state AI laws for 10 years, potentially enabling unchecked systems
3)SALT Deduction Bias: Quadrupled cap mostly benefits high earners in blue states.
4) Debt Ceiling Hike: Raises by $4T, adding to fiscal concerns

This was from Grok. I had it list 25 good and 25 bad. Most of the bad was what I felt was good, but some I didn't understand. These are the main ones I felt were bad.

Fwiw, I feel there is a lot of good in this bill. I do hope Senate can make some more cuts though.
