I think you're overstating the case a bit. When he's right, he's right. He just isn't right nearly as much as you seem to think.

I like Oliver, but I wouldn't exactly call him center, as he certainly leans left on most issues.

His bit on Venezuela was pretty soft handed.

This is why there is no compromise with the left. How do you find common ground with someone when they are so ideologically bound that they will ignore and dismiss 100+ MILLION dead people?

The rehab industry in this country is also shackled to AA/12-step style treatment, and that's in large part thanks to the very old temperance movement in the U.S.

Europe is not shackled to that mindset, and they provide analysis of the individual to determine exactly what the problem is and the best way to treat it. And a variety of options are available there. Sounds like common sense, but that's not the way it's done here.

No, he isn't. Last week he did a piece on Venezuela and why it's a piece of shite, and he blames it on Hugo Chavez's death and that everything would have been fine if he had lived. That's one hell of an assumption to make that I don't buy. Socialism will inevitably fail. Chavez just died right as it was going to collapse on itself.

Center.. between far left and far right. What positions has he taken that are politically extreme on either end?

If you're thinking of the Nordic countries, the only reason that can exist in its current form is the American military industrial complex. Socialism has failed everywhere else on the planet.

Which ones did he point out? He said it worked in a lot of other countries, but which ones and why?

Nope and nope. I'm still smh at your 1st response to the the situation being Big Government: " The interesting part is how this industry is non-regulated ".

Oh lawdamercy, the government doesn't control and regulate some facet of life, the economy, international affairs! The sky be fallen, the sky be fallen!

Is pretty much spot on with his topics and his related observations.

Monarchies are an effective form of government too. How many are dead at the hands of monarchism?

Does it trigger you that other forms of government can be effective?

I think you answered it yourself. Its worth mentioning that our own country has quite a few socialist programs..

But they are a small homogenous society for the most part. There's no way socialism could ever work in a country like the United States or China.

Yeah, I watched it last night. It’s sad because a lot of lives could be saved with responsible,
Effective rehab. I’ve always thought that
Passages Malibu place with th creepy father and son was bogus just from the commercials.

I have a client who needs to find a good place soon

Problem is, the success rates of even the most "effective" rehabs, is still pretty awful. At the end of the day, it still comes down to the desire and ability of an individual to change.
