As much as I disagree with him doing Israels bidding, I have to say he's got good comedic timing.

And we gave it to them. So what's the problem? Are you just mad your grandpappy didn't get a chance to die during an amphibious landing on Honshu?

I’m confused.

1) We (USA and Japan) are on the same side in this one.
2) We (USA) are asking for their (allies) assistance.

Educate me. I don’t follow this stuff much.

We didn't attack Iran at Israel's bidding - we did it for the petrodollar.

And frick Japan if they're offended about a Pearl Harbor joke. And yes they DID get off easy in comparison to Germany for WWII:
1) Japan did a frick load more awful vile shite to civilians and POWs than Germany ever did. And yes I AM including the entire holocaust.
2) Japan got to keep their precious Emperor but only because we were very afraid that we'd have to fight against a terrible insurgency if we did anything to him. He also wasn't the poor little innocent who helplessly went along with the military in decisions. He was a willing participant in every decision Japan made - including attacking the US at Pearl.
3) The nukes were viewed at the time as just being really large bombs and we felt that dropping them on Japan was better than perhaps losing half a million more American lives just to invade their home islands.
4) frick the Japanese people - yes they were heavily propagandized about the war effort (much like the German people were in Germany) but the Japanese people were racist as hell and fully knew very fricking well what they were doing by getting into the war. The Pacific war was THEIR fault (even accounting for the US actions leading up to the war including our sanctions, etc.).

Honestly, what the hell is the wrong with this board sometimes?

I don’t think people understand the scope of death and destruction that occurred in Japan.

Two atom bombs and the bombing of Tokyo killed 500,000 people. The lucky 160,000 died nearly instantly from the atom bombs. The rest either burned to death in Tokyo and radiation poisoning over the course of a year.

Better than losing half a million American soldiers. And maybe they should have thought about their actions when they attacked us? Oh yeah - did you know that we expected so many casualties from invading Japan (before we nuked them) that we produced so many purple hearts in preparation that we're still issuing them even to this day?

No, I'm not celebrating the deaths of so many people, but countries should think about the actions that they take and what may happen to their own people. And Japan could have surrendered at any time to prevent more death... but instead they decided to have pilots be taught how to take off in planes and fly them directly into US ships.

Japanese culture at the time was a literal death cult and you want me to have sympathy??? I love Japanese culture and their people and history - they are one of the most interesting cultures in history, but they absolutely deserved anything and everything we did to them to get them to finally surrender.

So we've built these atomic bombs (at HUGE expense) and we're *NOT* going to use them to end the most destructive war in human history because we're concerned about killing the citizens of a country that attacked us in cold blood? Are you kidding???

2 atomics and a shite ton of civilian firebombing?

I'd hate to know what you consider "not easy".

Yeah, we really held back Curtis LeMay. The only reason we reduced the level of firebombing is Dow Chemical couldn't make enough napalm fast enough.

They became among our staunchest and most reliable allies for a time. Drifted a little for a bit, but they're coming around with their new based PM like they did under Abe.

I like their people and appreciate their culture.

very few...very few people know what the Japanese did prior to being neutered by the A-bomb. They were horrendous throughout their history. They have been great allies since. But the inhumane experiments they have done should not be forgotten. That was the main reason the A-bomb was used. It was a deterrent for the civilization they would only give up to a higher power. It's close to the Arab nations. The people would only give up to a power bigger than they have ever thought of.

Do you truly understand what Japan just gained? As a Japanese citizen, I’m telling you—this moment changed history.

Trump's Pearl Harbor joke wasn't an insult. It was the key that finally unlocked something buried deep in the Japanese soul.

For 80 long years, we've carried apology and guilt like a permanent shadow—haunted by the past, bound by the Constitution America wrote for us, forever in "reflection mode." He turned that raw wound into a shared laugh between equals.

No more endless atonement. No more vassal shadow.

The curse is broken. Japan is free now.
Thank you, Mr. President.
We're allowed to stand tall again—as true partners, not subordinates.
The strongest alliance in the world is rising—equals, brothers, ride-or-die.
