Mad RESPEK to every one of those high achievers. I’m not going to lie, and it may be technically a bit irrational, but I have a special place in my heart for high- achieving black kids from bad areas. It’s such a testament to character and good choices. Those kids cheer me up and give me hope.

Edit- I can see how the above comments might infuriate a white Leftist who wants blacks to stay under the thumb of the Progressive White Overseer Class. Bless your little down- voting heart.

Any notion that now is worse than some supposed "good ol' days" is ahistorical at best.
How many black-on-black deaths happened in '64 compared to '21?

I have always thought you get out of school what you put into it. Teachers might not be the greatest but smart kids that want to know more probably leave the class knowing more about the subject matter than the teacher. That's how you get into the 30+ club. They likely made it in spite of many of the teachers.
I had a football coach teaching like 8th grade Science say "if you see the moon in the daytime, then it's Venus". Now I was bright enough and curious enough to research it on my own, so he didn't convince me like he probably did to others that took him at his word.

He’s too busy trying to steer a garbage contract to a minority contractor to be bothered by it .

Op-ed: Lumumba says Richard’s won contract ‘fair and square,’ asks why council won’t back it

I don’t see the relevance in this situation. A 15 year old is dead. No matter why, the school failed her, the city failed her and society failed her.

How exactly? This sentiment sounds like the left banging the drums for more parenting to be done by anyone and everyone other than the actual parents.

She wrote a long note in first period. Second period she told teacher she was going to kill herself and walked out of class. She just walked out of school despite all the resource officers at that school.

Even in death she was neglected. Protocol was for police to call ambulance. AMR transports body to UMMC nearby. Instead they call coroner, lets body lie out there. Yes, long enough for you guess it, mother to show up. YOu can just imagine how that went.

People called 911 multiple times and as is too often the case, no one answered.

I heard this part specifically - she gave warnings to the school and they just ignored the, ignoring set protocol. Had not heard that about the mother showing up.

Seems like we say this once a month - but will this wake the people of Jackson up?

JJ has the story: LINK

a solid comment out of the gate:

The truth is the leadership of Jackson doesn’t care. Now if she were called a racist name then those same “leaders” , if you want to call them that, would be crawling thru fire and broken glass to condemn and appear outraged in front of the nearest tv camera.

Oh really? Travel to North Baton Rouge and try walking the length of Winbourne Ave between Plank & Airline at night with $100 bills pinned to your shirt and get back to us, Cap'm.

Hell- try it with $1 bills. Or no bills at all.

Edit: I guess I should add that I'm kidding and would never seriously suggest someone do something so foolish in what is now the most dangerous area in Metro BR. But that's my point. This is but one example of a multitude of places that are definitely worse off now than they were in 1964. And this is one area I can vouch for- because I grew up there. Sorry, but we'll have to disagree.
