That knife cuts both ways sis. Remember Britney Griner, Abu Ghraib, GITMO, the al-Awlaki drone killing, Collective bail funds for BLM, etc.
I could go on and on.
I could go on and on.

"If an arrested subject in Louisiana files an affidavit certifying he and his counsel are ready, they can file a motion for speedy trial. That would ensure their trial begins within 120 days if they are in custody for a felony, or within 180 days if they are free from custody on a felony arrest. (Code of Criminal Procedure Article 701)

The inmates aren’t choosing not to take it. The public defenders are.

Are you trying to set up a strawman? I wasn't referring to how long they are being detained in my previous post.
No, she is trying to pretend that no one here would call for justice if it was a liberal being treated the same way. Of course she is wrong, but let's let her continue with her moronic views.

I simply don’t understand how this is allowed to happen. What is the legal basis?
Lang wants the Supreme court to hear his case. This takes time. As far as his treatment in prison...prison sucks and inhumane conditions should not be something anyone should condone.

The government is not holding him without allowing him the opportunity for trial. He has chosen to delay his opportunity for trial for a litigation strategy attacking one of the charges.
I'm sure his lawyers would argue, with full utility, that they are being forced into this alleged strategy because their client is being shamefully overcharged. What's your point? There all sorts of fricked tactics being employed here. It just makes the whole thing worse.

Does that make it ok?

Isn't there an avenue for the SCOTUS to intervene pre-trial in some of this nonsense? These prosecutors and judges should be in jail instead of Lang.

It seems like you either work(ed) in corrections or have a lot of experience with it in some other capacity. You seem to have a lot of knowledge about corrections. Do you know of instances when defendants would rather stay in detention than go to trial?
