Lots of people are single-issue voters. Not defending it, but it's true. I know lots of people who voted Trump only because of SCOTUS. They think he's a pretty disgusting human being, but he wasn't Hillary Clinton.

I am really surprised how tone deaf they appear to be on this issue. He will not win if he further curtails gun rights. The bump stock ban is bad enough. I am pissed about it, but will to still vote for him. Any further meaningless gun control laws and I am not.
He should focus energy on mental health reform. That is where the issues with most mass shootings are. Most of the mass shooters should not have had the gun to begin with. They are already breaking laws around guns and gun possession taking guns away from law abiding people won't solve the issue. Unless the solution he is looking for is to no longer be president.

You can deride them as "idiots" all you want, but anyone who denies that they exist is pretty fricking clueless when it comes to politics. Trump's margin in key states was razor thin, and it would be the height of political stupidity for Trump to do anything to endanger it. If he loses those key states because of this, it will have been his own fault.

Beck's wrong. Look at Trumps margin for error in the key states. It is too thin to frick around with this meaningless legislation.
The closest 10 states in 2016:
1 - Michigan 0.3% margin, 13,080 votes. That is with the democrats ignoring Michigan. 38.4% of Michigan residents own guns.
2 - New Hampshire 0.4% Margin, 2,701 votes. 30% of the residents own guns.
3 - Wisconsin 1% margin, 27,257 votes. 44.4% of Wisconsin residents own guns.
4 - Pennsylvania 1.2% margin, 68,236 votes. 34.7% of Pennsylvania residents own guns.
5 - Florida 1.2% margin, 114,455 votes. 24.5% of Floridians own guns.
6 - Minnesota 1.5% margin, 44,470 votes. 41.7% gun ownership in MN.
7 - Nevada 2.4% margin, 26,434 votes. 33.8% gun ownership.
8 - Maine 2.7% margin, 19,995 votes. 40.5% gun ownership.
9 - North Carolina 3.8% margin, 177,009 votes. 41.3% gun ownership.
10 - Arizona 3.9% margin, 91,682 votes. 31.1% gun ownership.
Those margins are slim, extremely slim when overlaid with gun owners. Obviously he won't lose every gun owner's vote but the reality he will not pick up more than he loses over this BS.
People who want to see Trump re-elected (myself included) need to make sure this gets out and someone gets into his ear that this is a complete losing issue for him and he needs to ignore daddy's little girl on this one.
