I am afraid 2nd amendment is his achilles heel. I he does something besides Red Flag and better background checks, which if done properly, I am in favor of, he is going to cause a stay home effect that could destroy him at the ballot box.

The longer this goes on, the more I think Cocaine Mitch did this to fire up the 2A advocates. Get them calling and emailing while the Senate is out to firm up the spines of some of the R caucus.
I think he correctly predicts that the Dems won't be able to help themselves - that instead of taking the block grant money for states to set up Red Flag laws themselves, they're going to poison anything that has bipartisan support with other crap, notably assault weapon and magazine bans.
Just my 2 cents and probably not worth that, frankly.

just funny point to me, because he's obviously taken action on it.
on guns, while i don't want any more mass shootings, there's not a gun law he can pass outside of confiscation that can end it forever. we read more stories of how people were stopped before an attack than we do actual attacks. there are laws. some of them are good and work. when they're ignored (thanks Parkland PD) we're more likely to have a bad outcome.
while "winning the election" is not the most important thing compared to people's lives, he won't gain a single vote for passing anti-2A legislation that won't work, but he will lose a lot if he does.
