Love Ivanka Trump, but her constituency seems to be Upper East Side NYC socialite/Liberals. Hope she also confers with citizens of Venezuala, Hong Kong, South Africa, Rhodesia, former Soviet Bloc countries, etc.

Trump is NOT a lock in 2020 without his 2nd Amendment base. (and Liberals won't vote for Trump no matter WHO he sells out).

Beck said it best on Friday, if Trump passes Red Flag laws his base will hold their noses to vote for him instead of the democrats. His argument is Trump supporters will lose their passion if he does this.

In the wake of FISA abuse and a long, sorted history of govt abuse vs. US citizens (IRS scandal, DOJ, even the dam EPA), Trump would be an absolute fool to support anything regarding gun control. There is a 0% chance this law will not be abused by (most likely) liberal activist bureaucrats

So that's all that matters to you when it comes to the overall well being of this country? Good grief.

Trump has been probing his aides and making calls to lawmakers about what strategy he should adopt on guns, and how it will play with his base.

Behind the scenes: Ivanka Trump spoke last Wednesday to Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), while he was vacationing in Hawaii, to get an update on the bipartisan background checks bill he proposed with Sen. Pat Toomey (R-Penn.).

The measure, which was initially introduced in 2013 after the Sandy Hook shooting, would expand background checks to nearly all commercial firearm sales.

"She called Manchin and said she was trying to get a sense of what bills are out there," a Manchin aide told Axios. "She had him explain how they drafted the bill, where it stands and what changes needed to be made in order for it to pass."
But she didn't signal a White House position.

The call followed President Trump's own conversations with Manchin last Monday and Tuesday, first reported by the WashPost, in which he told the senator that he wanted legislation before the Senate returns from recess in September.
Trump exploring strategy he should adopt on guns, and how it will play with his base "doesn't translate to coming for your guns," does it?

Fact finding would seem prudent in light of McConnell announcing reinstitution of the ""assault weapons"" ban will be "front and center" when the Senate reconvenes. Wouldn't it?

His victory in Mich. Penn, Ohio was razor-thin.

I won't vote Dem, but if the 2nd is compromised, I can't vote for Trump - nose held or not.

Trump pledged to stop the mega-mass Opioid death travesty. He hasn't. If he actually wants to save 100's of thousand lives - start there. AND - Lots and lots of illegal guns on drug dealers in every American city and town.

Most will, but a lot won't. He won quite a few states by slim margins.

And politically it's a horrible play. Think 1 Hillary voter will vote for Trump cause he passed gun control? Think 1 Trump voter will vote Dem cause he doesn't pass gun control? He will only lose votes, absolutely nothing to gain.

Who and where are all of these dumbass people who base their vote on ANY single given issue? “Everyone” seems to be so sure that the GOP will lose them in just about every election.

Don't be a pussy, first of all

Second, red flags with due process is not a violation of 2A, though I doubt it happens

Bad.......Taking their time to prosecute fisa, u-1 etc. in a slow manner.

Bad.......running up quick-like on my second amendment rights.

Funny how all the things we want “take time” while they move with a quickness to limit our freedoms or tax us.

That wouldn’t bode well for my vote. He’s smarter than this and won’t allow it.
