Just another example that the dumbass outdated Republican ideologies are costing the GOP elections.
I’m all out of fricks to give about the shitbags useless trash of society eliminating future shitbags before they become as useless as their shitbag parents.
Spending energy on people who when they aren’t stealing or murdering will live of the government tit is not in my best interest.

Putting abortion rights in the constitution will be put to a vote, and will only need a simple majority. This ballot attempted to raise it to 60%.

You forgot to mention that due to a redistricting fight with the Ohio Supreme Court, Ohio had to have a separate primary election last August for State Reps and Senators because the districts weren't drawn for the typical primary in May.
After that debacle, the Republican legislature banned August elections.
Fast forward to this spring, and an amendment to the state constitution guaranteeing abortion rights is gaining steam. Republicans decide to go back and change the rules back to allowing an August election in 2023 to try to raise the threshold for constitutional amendment ballot changes to 60%.
It was a bit of a cluster frick, and the ads for keeping the status quo were well done and straight forward. They didn't really make it about abortion.
So we'll see how this all goes in November with the abortion amendment, and likely a "treat Marijuana like alcohol" ballot initiative.
The count will likely be closer to 60%-40% tonight.

No doubt. The communication on the “no” side was much more focused and effective.

The Republican wanted Issue 1 to be all about abortion and that's what they advertised. Everyone else with half a brain knew better.

My issue with some posters in this thread is that you complain about 6 week abortion bans and heart beat bills, but then are silent when states like Ny and CA pass bills that legalize elective abortion up until birth
Both are equally unpopular and radical
What is so bad about making our laws more like the median European nation when it comes to abortion? Banning elective abortions after 12-15 weeks or so
I think that’s a very reasonable middle ground
It balances choice and ethical concerns as viability is approached

Reasonable middle ground isn’t needed.
Our laws should be state based.
If Ohioans want to slaughter babies, that’s on them.

Only angle to rush this on the ballot I can see, is they wanted future money spent on this to defend and opportunity.
Was doomed to failure. Never explained well enough.
Ohio is still deep red.
The rust belt cities are not all blue anymore.
The unions are dead.
Columbus/Toledo is a different animal.
They are still growing. The old cities are dying.

Ohioans think that keeping abortion legal will somehow attract more out-of-staters to come and live there. If that was the case, then why are so many people moving out of shitholes like NYC and LA where abortion is fully legal?

That's not why this failed.

have heard from country club republicans, who voted no, who think it’s alright to abort African Americans because they only perpetuate fatherless homes, welfare, drugs, and crime.

If you look at the demographics of Ohio’s population, it isn’t all based in one huge metropolitan city compared to other blue states. Blue states like Illinois and New York have 95% of their total state population living in Chicago and NYC
With Ohio, the population is much more evenly distributed throughout the state which gives the GOP party there a better chance to compete and gain voters.
