He needs to finish this year out. Put the pieces in place and at his state of the union demand congress act to eliminate income tax completely.
He has to do it on a national stage and not just these audio clips.

Give me autonomy over the budget and I’ll make it work.
It might look like Milei was running things by the time I’m done, but it can be accomplished.
And I don’t truly believe that all income taxes can be eliminated, only those above a certain income level.

Depends on what gets cut and what the tariffs are set at.
If you cut 100% of SS/Medicare and tariffs were set at 80% we'd still be short.
Prices would go through the roof, though. So that plan would have that going for it.

Hmm, tax the rich and give back to the poor...? Sound like a socialist idea to me.

Get rid of the federal reserve and we likely wouldn’t need income tax.
I have to admit that the federal reserve is over my head
If anyone can give me a short lesson, I would appreciate it
I do think a vat/sales tax would be fair if all other taxes are eliminated
Everybody including drug dealers and human traffickers have to pay

Tell me where I'm wrong. (I'm not btw)
Trump can't unilaterally end federal income tax
Congressional Republicans don't have the testicular fortitude to make such a massive legislative move.

For too long we have incentivized the wrong behaviors.
Even more insidious, the true motivation is for tax payers to fund politicians' vote buying.

It's a pipe dream so unfeasible only the dumbest of the MAGA cult thinks it's a possibility
On the high end they say they can generate a trillion annually
That just covers the interest to service the existing debt and not a penny more. If you think that this is feasible it's because you're a fricking idiot.

I wouldn't throw around the word idiot if I were you. It is not as if there are not other ways to raise money. I suggest reading some of the literature published by the American Taxpayers Party for more information

I'm not saying there isn't a way to replace the income tax. But it can't be done with tariffs alone.
You'd likely have to implement a high national retail sales tax and possibly a federal property tax.
And you'd have to ease into those things because you would completely decimate seniors if you did it abrubtly.

We need to start rewarding the people who work.
Make it appealing to work and keep more of the money you earned.
Make it very uncomfortable to be lazy and sit on your arse waiting for a handout.
This. Quit punishing producers.

I'm ok with that so long as we acknowledge that the working poor are producers.
It's one of the things that I abhor about the political right is they will absolutely shite on the working poor every chance they get.

I 100% agree. Let's use the money we're giving illegals to help the working poor. Reward work. Penalize laziness. I'm not against safety nets, but we'd have much fewer issues finding labor if we didn't penalize those at the lower end of the pay scale.

It does come across that way, but generally they are talking about those not working or doing just enough not to lose benefits. But from an economic standpoint, we encourage that behavior. I think we're on the same page here. I do everything I can to help my poor patients that are working their asses off to make ends meet. I prioritize them for samples, I try to minimize their visits but still take care of them and use my volume to negotiate better rates for them with specialists and hospitals. I'm not doing that for slack asses though.

What a horrible idea. We need more people contributing to the tax base, not fewer.
No, what we need is to ween the economy off of its dependency on massive deficit spending. In the five years since COVID, three of those years had deficits greater than GDP growth, one year they were nearly identical.
Once we can achieve that, we can start focusing on paying down the debt. After that. yes, we need to kill the federal income tax as Congress has proven time and again that it doesn't have the sense of responsibility to handle so much money. Along with that, money equates to power and by cutting income to the federal government we cut its power (bringing it back into more of a balance with states).
