Incompetent. At least at the officer and pilot they are typically part of the royal family and shitty.

Having worked pretty closely with the Saudi military, they are functionally worthless in any offensive capacity. I remeber this exact phrase going to through my head...
"These folks couldn't defeat a motivated group of girl scouts."
They are shockingly lazy. If anything is demanded of them they say "Inshalla". Which means "Unless allah comes down here and makes me do it, I'm not doing it". It's an excuse to mean If I don't want to do it and god wants me to, I'd do it. Since I'm not doing it, I must be in line with gods will and it will remain undone.

after the Gulf War, one of my neighbors who was a maintainer (IIRC) on F-15s said that the Saudi shoot-down of an Iraqi jet was because the USAF had basically boxed the Iraqi in and the Saudi pilot had an easy shot up the tail pipe...

You understand this isn't exclusive to the Saudis, right? I've heard it from Arabs from all locales.

I’ve never heard or seen any reference to the Saudi military being noteworthy or remarkable in any way. Certainly no more so than any other in the region.

Seeing several people here post about working with the Saudi military and using the word incompetent is accurate. Their pilots were bad. They crashed 3 jets on landing and our pilots were terrified of flying with them they were so bad. Their maintainers broke more shite than they fixed. They damaged several wings and a couple of verts just towing them. I use to hate going because eveytime we went we were on their bases and we were the only Americans. Also their food was awful.

I was also on F-15s and he is right and the pilot still probably got lucky. Also someone mentioned how lazy they were, absolutely spot on. Their maintainers were very lazy and always fricking around. Its amazing they ever had any aircraft ready to fly.

Oh, I'm completely aware. If you go to an primary muslim country it looks generally like a gigantic trash heap because let's be honest, if allah didn't want that giant trash pile there or the streams polluted with garbage, it wouldn't be there. Logically that trash there must be "gods" will.

The only ones over there that can really fight are the Afghans. Professionals for 50 years. Any other group is absolutely useless. Only good at murdering innocents at a market.

You’re probably talking about the Taliban when you say “the Afghans.” Not a fully organized, uniformed national army. There’s a vast difference between the two.
