Some of you guys are complete idiots and are what's wrong with the Republicans party. I don't care if he was caught screwing a dog, he's a Republican and I voted for him.

That retard that's been down there for 8 years has done nothing but hurt our state and went along with the Democrat's national agenda. We as Republicans have got to get over all this nit picking when it comes to Republican candidates vs Democrats. A Democrat is 100% gonna side with the liberals every time, there is no such thing as a good Democrat.

EWE had to go against a member of the KKK at one time and won. Anybody could have won that race.

Not defending or championing Landry, but it is refreshing that he did not repeat the mistakes that killed Jindal, Vitter and Rispone. He is at least politically savvy in that respect.

I am very curious to see if Landry gets involved in the House Speaker and Senate President races, as Louisiana Governors typically do, and who he backs.

Jindal won two elections outright with no runoff.

His problems weren't electoral; they were managerial. He put ambition for higher office in front of doing a good job. (To be clear, I think he did a LOT of good as governor, but he clearly dropped the ball on somethings, namely the tax cut/budgeting).

We will see how Landry does.

Jindal was undefeated
Vitter’s mistake was unzipping his pants not political
Rispone was a complete novice

Landry did a great job getting the GOP endorsement locking up the big money before the others knew the game had started. After that he ran out the clock,

He gets an extra month now to get his administration set. He faces the expiration of the big sales tax JBE passed, and a possible recession. There could be some rough times ahead that are not his fault.

I wish Landry the best. I hope he serves two terms and in the end of that, voters are pushing him to the Senate. We need someone to turn things around.

Has been? I guess you're not old enough to remember them rolling around on the LA House floor, speaking in tongues.

To the OP, Landry didn't use shrewdness nor learned from mistakes. He was lucky that none of his party opponents had a shot at so much as double digits.

What’s left to learn is just how significant that is in making him a historical figure in this state.

No what's left to learn is exactly what was Landry's agreement with the trial attorneys in this state and will he force Congress to override a veto of a "good" bill because the ambulance chasers don't want it.

It's morons like you that caused people like me to rarely vote for Republicans anymore/ It's party over common sense with some of you cats. Some of you would vote for a Nazi if he had an R next to his name vs a moderate Democrat. Extremism is not only bad on the left, it's bad on right as well. But keep selling your soul podnah.

House, yes. Look for Phillip DeVillier to be SOTH.

Senate? Like in the past that was pretty much decided before the election. Cameron Henry.

I want to know committee chairs and cabinet positions. So far I am not liking what I am hearing, but it is waay early to put a lot of stock in early rumors.

Landry scored an early TD, then went to the prevent defense with 12 min left in the first quarter, stayed in the prevent all game, and somehow, the opposition still could not move the ball past the 50 yard line.

Landry let a weak competition beat itself.

Is that the mark of a "best" politician? Not sure.

Believe he’s just a typical power hungry Louisiana politician or not. But Landry has been laying this groundwork for a long time now, and executed to damn near perfection.

What’s his grand strategy?

Yeah, that's why Louisiana Democrats are too intellectual to fall for his stuff. The real brains are in New Orleans.

His AG office is pretty shittily run. He was uninterested in actually doing mundane but important AG duties .

He literally thought that some of the Civil stuff was unimportant and not sexy for consumption while his grandstanding with the State Police and its "task force" a few years back was it.

Most Republicans with a brain think that Jeff Landry is victim of diminished mental capacity.
