2 things would happen.
1. Folks like me who own a home would quit or substantially reduce work time which would substantially cut tax revenue.
And/or
2. Companies who are taxed for this would leave the country.

I prefer a non-politician. Politicians are the reason we are where we're presently at. Maybe if more people were supportive of the non-politcian we now have we might see that politicians aren't needed in this country.

What is welfare? Section 8? WIC? Food stamps? All the myriad other gov’t goodies?
And they need cash money on top of that?

This is a side note but applicable here. The insurance industry in Florida is always under attack. Courts continue to find coverages that do not and were not intended to exist for which premiums were not paid.
The government continues to find ways to mandate coverages and taxes.
Guess what happens...premiums rise to cover all of that along with enough to make a profit for the company. Everyone understand that simple principle? Prices rise to cover whatever is being done.

The futurists and “ Great Mind Class” are in almost universal agreement that as our economy becomes more technologically efficient, less actual labor will be required. This will result in a small labor force, more money in the hands of fewer people, and a need to disperse that money to maintain living standards. I hear Libertarians discussing this, not just Socialists , although ground zero for this idea is definitely Silicon Valley . Everybody might want to acclimate themselves to this discussion because we will be having it whether we want to or not.

This is not socialism. We will guaranteed have a UBI within the next 50 years.
Looking at this UBI stuff from 180 degrees shows how stupid the idea is.

While technology advances...and jobs change...the rest of your post is just bs. There will always be labor forces. Even with technology...at least until Rosie the Robot becomes common place...

The idea, known by economists as the universal basic income, or UBI, has been rebranded by Yang as the “freedom dividend.”
A steaming pile of shite by any other name...
IIRC his idea for UBI would replace our other social welfare systems and would cost less. That's a wonderfully rosy picture but it (like many liberal policies) completely neglects the human aspect.
The first part is that there are far too many Democratic politicians that run on continuing or increasing federal programs to the poor. Anyone running on cutting those out for a cheaper replacement will be met with fire and fury from their own party. tl;dr - it will never pass in the form he intends.
The second part (which ties into the first) is that the only way a UBI would ever pass is in addition to existing programs, not in replacement of them.
The third part is that we've already seen what happens when you just throw money at the irresponsible, they blow it on frivolous shite.
The fourth part is that everywhere UBI has been tried it's failed horribly, usually ending far earlier than anticipated.
Yang's approach is well-intentioned but naive and short-sighted. His attempts at putting lipstick on this pig by renaming it just underscores that he knows it's a steaming pile of shite designed to attract only the gullible.

If his first name was Wang I'd vote for Wang Yang.
He's probably a Chinese spy anyway.

The conversation is pointless because they will never get rid of the other entitlements in exchange for UBI.

Yes its brilliant when he says "and to pay for it we will cut some stuff from government and raise taxes".
This Yang is a Godsend of great wisdom

I'm shocked this dude hasn't embraced something common sense when it comes to taxes, like the National Retail Sales Tax.
