Saudi Arabia won't let us leave. If we do, they'll attack us again like they did on 9-11.

We should say “See ya” and bring all our people home.
Edit to add: And equipment or destroy it

“How to get out of Iraq and take out an a-hole in one fail swoop.”

Dumbass Dim Chris Van Hollen is on Fox News Sunday telling Americans that Soleimani has possibly accomplished his goal of removing US forces from Iraq because Iraq has asked the US to leave. I guess this Dim Dummy doesn't understand the military capabilities of the US. The US doesn't need boots on the ground in Iraq if we're not going to occupy that country. If need be we can deliver overwhelming military power sans any boots on the ground.

Since when did Iraq and Iran become so chummy?
Once the US deposed Saddam (the minority Sunni), the majority Shia were able to assert power and get cozy with Shia Iran.

Iran and sane Americans have the same goal.
Get the hell out.
Sadly, we’ll still meddle in their affairs.

So let's get a grip. First they didn't say expel all American forces.
For my understanding they rescinded the agreement where we sent more troops in to fight ISIS. ISIS is gone. The trips to fight ISIS are not needed.
Unless I am missing things, this resolution really doesn't do much.
But it's a symbolic thing Iraq can point to and say they put America in it's place.
Face saving process by some in Iraq.

Hahaha....now the anti-Iraq presence libs are gonna be in a tough spot. Hahahaha I love it!

I suspect this was part of our strategy all along. Kill the Iranian General and then get kicked out of Iraq.
We punch Iran in their nasty faces and finally get justification to GTFO of Iraq.
I see only good coming from both.

And leave nothing behind.
Take all the equipment. ALL OF IT.

If the US leaves Iraq then they will become the next Syria... If this happens I could see the country splitting up.
Also we would likely just move everything into Kuwait and Saudi.

I'm struggling to see a downside here

Agreed. We literally get everything we want. - dead terrorist who attacked our embassy (which Iraq was apparently fine with) - cover to leave Iraq (and GTFO the Middle East even more) - no war
OMG the Filth and their MSM would be so pissed if this happened.
This would kill so many false narratives.
I have no doubt they can make up a new lie soon, however.

If this isn’t proof positive that we have no idea WTF we are doing when it comes to ME policy, I’m not sure what else to tell you. It’s time to GTFO and stop picking sides over there. Let’s let them handle it.

You are absolutely wrong about me being fine if a Democratic President did this and I would be fine. My views are:
1. The Bush- Chaney decision to invade Iraq was the biggest military blunder of my lifetime on par with the Vietnam disaster. The 2 biggest miscalculations were not recognizing that the Shia aligned with Iran were a majority and not having a rile for the Sunni Bath party which firmed the roots of ISIS. These are facts.
2. Obama failed by keeping his eye off the Sunni’s forming ISIS and was not able to help form a stable Iraqi Government and military. His leadership in Iraq and the ME was NOT successful.
3. I am not saddened by the assassination of Solimani because he was a menace to the planet. The action raises the stakes and would be the equivalent of Iran assassination of pompeo or former General Mathis. My comments were aimed at the reality that this escalated instability in the ME, and that Iraq (remember they are Shia majority and Iran friendly) will jettison the US from Iraq, and all the blood and treasure lost from the Bush- Chaney war will be for nothing.

To make this statement, you have to have an endgame in mind.
What is your endgame?

The problem with the Bush-Cheney, Obama, and Trump strategies is that we have never had and still don’t have an end-game strategy for Iraq or the region.
