Iran will not let up until they have financial interest over the Strait

It’s that simple. The Strait is their new nuclear weapon, as it’s been their only point of leverage. Otherwise, we would have packed it up a long time ago.
Trump needs to work out some sort of financial arrangement that satisfies the IRGC. Since he wants to save face as much as possible, it won’t be as direct as a “toll”, but it will be a concession nonetheless.
It’s either that or full-on ground invasion to overthrow the regime and nobody has an appetite for that. May this quagmire be the final lesson for future presidents to stop meddling in the Middle East.

If you start working out financial arrangements with the IRGC then all you are doing is paying ransom. We know how well that works out. The price keeps going up until one day you can’t pay it anymore.

That's a bold strategy speaking of current events.
Who in Iran will be left to enforce so called financial interest?
Remember the rescue of the pilot in Iran? They could detect his heartbeat from hundreds of miles away on that mountain.
You think these tyrants can stay hidden forever?

Iran is about out of options. They aren't going to have any chips left. This is how it should be. Unconditional surrender is all we should even talk about..

There’s an option in the middle of these two. I started a thread on it.

This would be the ultimate disaster... the world giving in. I'm already pissed at Omar for (someone over their) stating they would support the plan.
A few leftover errant rockets and lots of small drones will never give them that 'financial interest' on their own. It is why, even during the ceasefire, I would have (at least) inspected cargo bound for Iran, to prevent them from rebuilding & re-stocking weapons.

I can't believe how retarded some of you are. The SoH has been an Iranian control point since 79. We had to escort tankers through there during Earnest Will, etc.
Meanwhile, the EU, which is much more dependent on products flowing through the SoH, has done frick all, and let their navies atrophy to the point of ineffectiveness.

Iran is not the people shutting down the Strait and never has been. The Insurance companies that hold policies on those ships sailing through the Strait is the people that is closing it for Iran. As long as the IRGC is in charge then it doesn’t matter how many weapons they really have or what they are really still capable of doing as far as launching attacks. All they have to do is publicly threaten shipping or say they mined the Strait and the insurance companies will tell these ships to stop and hold place or risk not being covered if they lose a ship and its cargo. Bottom line is as long as the IRGC has an internet connection they can make threats and shipping stops. That affects global prices and markets. The IRGC could be completely out of weapons but it doesn’t matter because the threats and claims they make backs them up because no knows what they have or don’t have left so what they say must be taken seriously. There is not many ways around this problem so we just have to go through it. It sucks I know. Nobody wants war but these people ultimately need to be removed so they can’t cause all this mischief. Now that they know they can do this and have this affect on world markets they will be doing this all the time until someone finally gets fed up and goes over and stops them once and for all.

Just set up a permanent military base on Kharg island. Take all the oil. Make the straight ours permanently. Negotiations off the table.

Problem is, they're not out of missiles and mines. They keep popping them off.
What else should and insurance carrier of shipping carrier do?Sail right into an active combat zone?

Taking Kharg wouldn’t do anything towards taking the strait.

Carpet bomb the hell out of the ports to the east of the strait.

And there is the problem. Until this current regime is removed, runs out of weapons and then it is exposed they are out , decides to change own their own and become respectable people, or lastly the world figures out how to make the Strait totally irrelevant and unimportant to world markets then we have this problem to deal with now.
The only real option is removing there people from power. It could take forever to find and destroy all these missiles and drones they have stored. We can make the Strait irrelevant to world markets with pipelines and such. Problem is a few well placed missile or drone strikes and the pipelines are gone. The world is back to using the Strait. Iran damn sure isn’t gonna change and become respectable and responsible people. So that leaves the one option. Nobody wants to do it but as I said earlier there in no way around the problem so we might as well face the facts and start slugging our way through so we can get this over with and stop dragging this out begging evil people not to do evil things.

I mean, isn’t being able to freely export their crooked oil and import whatever they import from their own ports and such, without impediment of the U.S. Navy heavily influencing their critical usage of those locations and resources, as has quite seriously been the case here of late, isn’t that a “financial interest” directly related to the strait (and then some)? Seems to me they have more to gain by negotiating away our influence mentioned above, thus regaining the lifeline of their economy and thus of their entire country -rather than- stonewalling because tolls produce more spoils.

You idiots want this to be a "quagmire" so badly you can taste it, but we still haven't even been there four and a half months yet.
"Quagmire."
What a pussy you are.

You have a very low bar for use of this term.

You are treating them like they are rational. They are far from it. It’s hard to deal with religious zealots in a rational way. Any person or group of people willing to fly commercial jet airliners into the tallest buildings in NYC, behead or murder people in mass to stay in power, or attack innocent people at a concert or some other place enjoying themselves are evil sick people that can’t be reasoned with or bargained with. They are like the Terminator in the movie. Look at the sick ways people were killed on Oct 7th. The sick things done to infants and pregnant woman. And they cause all this death and destruction around the globe so they can make it to heaven. There is no way of ever getting these radicals to ever change. They are not normal.

Then we pound them till the convince us we have to nuke them.
Then we nuke them.
Then we nuke them.

The strait was open and toll free before Trump started bombing them.
