No.

I’m saying watch both speeches. That’s it.

And then watch future speeches. And debates.

And then go from there.

Exactly right ... and the question how many Trumper supporters are there that have sense to make the switch to win vs the Always Trumpers who prove every night on here that they don't that much sense.

"America First is now Trump First "

Give it time. Lot of emotional attachment to Trump and wishing he was what he used to be. He isn't and that's going to take folks a while to adjust to. Events like tonight though are how that process starts though. Hard to look at the two of them close together speaking and think that Trump is really the best choice for the future.

back and forth between high energy DeSantis and the low energy Trump.

The difference was stark. Not only was Trump low energy, he looked, and sounded, like a grade schooler reading a report to class.

DeSantis at 20:30 mark

Donald Gump's boring reading of a speech from paper is at the 159:50 mark.

... Iowans will take note of who cared enough to be prepared.

3 time loser? Trump is 1-1 in presidential elections.

When he loses, he can always get a job making announcements at train stations.

I just noticed the 51 down votes here ... LOL. The Always Trumpers are so predictable. ... I know the truth hurts.

Hmm. So the truth is indeed that you voted for Biden, is the reasonable conclusion to deduce from your post.

Yet he got the longest applause, and more of them.

I’m the only R to win MI, WI & PA in over 30 years..

I flipped over 200 counties that voted twice for Barack Obama including 31 here in Iowa”

Iowans cheer when Trump says that he’s beating Rob DeSantis by 34% in Iowa

Keep hope alive though.

It's funny how the DeSantis backers love to invert the truth. That was Ron's best performance ( I guess lol) and he still got put in his place. The people at this particular event were for Trump , it's not hard. Him trying to be funny in the opening was f**king brutal. He has got to be one of the most awkward presidential candidates ever. All the democrats in this thread touching tips over another please clap DeSantis speech reeks of desperation.

That actually wasn't DeSantis' best performance, it's just consistent with what he has been doing. Honestly I thought he rushed the speech a bit and tried to cover too much ground.

The story though is the energy level was night and day with DeSantis and Trump. Trump is riding off what he was not what he is now. He's not funny. He's not shocking or exciting. He's not saying the things everyone has been thinking but were afraid to say. He just stood there and read off a sheet of paper a pretty dull speech with lots of poll numbers, some namecalling that fell flat, and lots of "I was amazing and wonderful and you owe me. BTW did I mention how amazing I am?" stuff. Then a few jabs at Biden.

Nothing original. Nothing interesting. Looked like he really didn't want to be there and left early afterward.

Does it matter? Not much but this was a bad night for Trump. It was his first time back to back with DeSantis and he looked old and low energy. It's making the "I don't need to go to the debate" thing look like weakness. It's going to force him to get out there more. He needs to show he still has the old magic because he hasn't been lately.

DeSantis sounded very presidential. I like Trump , voted for him twice and nearly got divorced over defending him. That being said I’ve developed Trump fatigue and feel DeSantis would be a refreshing change. If Trump is the nominee he gets my vote.

Who heard it?

If you think the average voter is going to go track down the video then you are mistaken.

Iowa is a caucus.

These types of events are the people who influence a caucus. It’s not private voting and informed voters sway things.

Will it change general election polls? Maybe not

A big Iowa win can change things though.

Irrespective of January I think the energy levels just crystallizes having an octogenarian vs someone in their 40s

That dinner was possibly the largest and most important event to talk to the Iowa caucus goers. It's going to have reverberations.

If there was ONE Always Trumper in the room, then he would get the longest applause. Trump's age is showing and he was pathetic. Anybody with one eye and half sense saw that. DeSantis won the evening hands down. This is day one of the switch from Don Trump to someone who can lead our country to greatness which requires them to first beat Biden (or the DEM nominee) and Trump can't do that.
