So I kick the blacks out and have a white’s only restaurant?
If someone opened a 'blacks only' restaurant in my town I wouldn't be offended at all. It's called freedom.

quote:Complex question. I dislike "protected class" legislation, and I consider it to be unconstitutional. But the Warren-era courts disagreed with me. And Colorado had "protected class" legislation in place which protected gays. So, if I were the judge, I would have ruled the same because the law required it, but I would not have liked it.
So do you think the bakery should have been forced to bake the gay couples cake?
quote:See above.
Or should restaurants be able to refuse to seat people of certain races because they generally don’t tip well or are loud and disruptive?

Restaurants should be able to refuse service to anyone for any reason.

"We reserve the right to deny service to anyone"
Freedom of association.
The little novelty bat was a bit much, but apparently the (unwanted) customer was refusing to leave.
I dislike that your law training was so cut rate. "novelty" bat now eh? Imagine if the tables were turned and a MAGA bartender were ordering a LGBT person to leave with a bat. There would be no novelty claims.

Where did the OP suggest what the idiot did should be illegal?
What a bizarre reaction/response to someone simply shining a light on hateful idiotic business proprietors.
Muh Constitution!

I fully agree but they should be prepared to face the economic consequences. That goes for the baker, too. I expect the gays are a substantial piece of the cupcake market.

Like forcing Christian bakers to cater a gay weddding?

I don't give a shut, but it is funny watching our local libs bending over backwards to defend this.

Bars are fun, why would a Trump voter be in a bar?

So where exactly is the line? Can I slap a 'No colored folks allowed' sign on my underground Nike sweatshop and call that 'freedom of association'? Or does that suddenly violate every civil rights law we’ve had for decades?
Let’s be honest—chasing someone out of a bar with a bat because they’re a Trump supporter isn’t 'freedom of association,' it’s politically motivated aggression. If this were reversed and a liberal was chased out for their beliefs, you’d be screaming about fascism and hate crimes.
And no, this isn’t even remotely like refusing to bake a cake for a gay couple based on religious objections, which is actually protected by the First Amendment. That’s a religious liberty case. This? This is just intolerance wrapped in self-righteousness.
So again—where’s the line? Or do basic rights only apply when it fits your narrative?

does show that marjorie Taylor Greene was right. We need a national divorce. In fact we need to split into at least 5 or 6 different nations
At the core, we need to get back to debating real policy—not this toxic identity-driven warfare we’re stuck in now. It used to be, ‘How much welfare can we afford vs. how much is too much?’ or ‘How should we structure taxes?’ Normal, sane debates. Now it’s descended into straight-up hatred, virtue-signaling, and political theater.
The problem isn’t just politics—it’s culture. I’ve noticed this too: people fleeing urban areas because they wrecked them with failed policies, only to bring that same disrespectful, rule-breaking, aggressive mentality to rural towns. Cutting in line, treating people with indifference or outright hostility, acting like they’re entitled to reshape rural communities to mirror the mess they left behind.
This isn’t a left vs. right issue—it’s an urban decay mindset clashing with the rural, community-driven way of life. And if we don’t get serious about defining shared values—respect, accountability, self-sufficiency—we’re just going to keep amplifying this friction.
Before we talk about ‘national divorces’ or splitting into red/blue zones, we need to ask:
What core beliefs are we all still willing to stand behind as Americans? Because until we stop fighting over fringe nonsense and get back to basics—mutual respect, common decency, and policy over personality—nothing will change.
